The problem with your theory for the rest is that if teams really are going out of their way to play us in the first round then they are actually helping the giants. We are now the best attacking side in the competition. The other teams are giving the giants what has been lacking in previous years- and that's the confidence that they can win when necessary and momentum going into the playoffs.

So all the top teams are desperate to play a team that has already mullered everyone of them twice (apart from Wire) - or 3 times in Leeds' case - so are purposefully losing games to try and make this happen ??

Do you actually realise how stupid you sound in your desperation to play down what our club have just about achieved this year ??

Don't fall for the bait Daz. If you asked any player or team in SL if they give less than 100% for any game they'd knock your head off its their profession and how they earn a living. It's been proven over the season that we've been the most consistent team results wise and that's why we sit at the top with more wins, less losses and have scored more points than any other SL team.

If some deluded individuals believe that Warrington, Leeds and Wigan are wanting and trying to make it possible for them to play us and are relishing the chance by losing games then they must have been on the end of some high shots from Adrian Morley over the years and its clearly done some damage.

If this is the naively of some then it bodes well for the playoffs for the Giants as everyone is writing us off, giving us no chance and all wanting to play the most consistent team in SL. If/when we win the LLS then that will put to bed our bottlers tag. We will have won some significant silver wear in the new era of RL and can start to rewrite our history. It's been years since we won something of such importance and as fans we have suffered.

From also rans in the bottom tier of RL to becoming the most consistent side in the country is what dreams are made of and in under 2 weeks time that dream could become reality. We've got the squad, structure and management team to build on this success and fingers crossed this first bit of silver wear will snowball into more k020.gif icon_biggrin.gif

I really do hope that Huddersfield justify their top position on the regular SL season ladder by actually backing it up in the play-off's and going all the way.

The last two teams to finish in top position both lacked sufficient credibility and were in fact an acute embarrassment as they both submissively bent over for the 5th placed team.

That 5th placed team appears likely to finish 4th this season and is drooling at the prospect of Huddersfield being just as submissive.

But that's just it. It doesn't matter IF it conveys no advantage in the playoffs. In itself it is a pointless "trophy".

Personally I would like to see more advantage given to the leaders after the regular rounds and it be made progressively hard for teams that finished below them to win the GF. However, we have to play the cards we are dealt.

and all the money from the playoff games is pooled and paid out on a pro rata rate to the teams in the league based on their finishing league position.

say 150,000 people watch the games at £20 a head + £3million pounds with a higher % going to the teams that finish the highest

With all due respect, 150,000 is rather optimistic.

2012 Play-Off Total Attendances = 74,924 from 8 games.
2011 Play-Off Total Attendances = 76,544 from 8 games.
2010 Play-Off Total Attendances = 94,573 from 8 games.
2009 Play-Off Total Attendances = 68,995 from 8 games.

Edit: Comment removed as the above figures are missing grand final therefore inaccurate.

Who shares the grand final money? That would push the crowds upto the 150,000+ figures.

It appears Bill Eve is missing the grand final from his 'Play Off' Figures...oops!

Grand Final attendances

2009 - GF = 63,259, therefore total attendance = 132,254
2010 - GF = 71,526, therefore total attendance = 166,099
2011 - GF = 69,107, therefore total attendance = 145,651
2012 - GF = 70,676, therefore total attendance = 145,600

Average over 4 years = 147,401

Therefore Durhams guestimate of 150,000 as a ballpark figure is absolutely spot on.

By his own calculations he is a 'tro'. He misses half the information off.
