| disappointing lastnight.
we went 10-0 down and made a great response to go 22-10 up with leroy going 90metres with an interception, that should of been the game but we hit the self destruct button with some silly mistakes.
2nd half hull kr got a roll on, 3 converted tries in 6 minutes!!! ridiculous. on one occasion we got the ball back on the 5th tackle only for robinson not to play the ball and bentham gave the ball to hull kr instead for messing about
seemed to drop off when ferguson came on for taai too, similar story to last week when taai moved to the other side to replace ferres and ferguson went next too robinson, puletua ran riot and hull kr ran riot down that side, i think ferguson has a lot of work to do on his defence.
ukuma taai was awesome once again lastnight, hes going to become a real favourite at the giants, busting tackles and break through 3/4 men on occasions! but where were the back up to pass too??? also faiumu broke but with no one to pass too??? think we were tired lastnight.
Grix was shocking , he had one of those games we know he can and eden totally outshone him.
having said all this we only lost by 7 points and listening to radio humberside it was like they had won the cup and the best hull kr have played for in a long time, the giants have come along way.
lets hope they have a nice break and respond against leeds!

| Anyone notice the similarities with last year’s game at HKR? Play with 3 props, outplayed 1st half but still in it at half time thanks to a couple of breath-taking long-range tries only to be blasted out of it in the 2nd half? Why didn’t we threaten the power and mobility of HKR’s pack with 4 props rather than 3 and a makeshift one in Fuey? Patrick injured?
We’ve had a tough run of matches in the last few weeks and I thought we lacked energy and were outplayed even though we had chances late on to get something from the game which would have been hard on HKR. With our forwards on the back foot life was going to be difficult for our pivots where DB was quiet though made 2 tries with his kicks, Robbo excellent 1st half but awful 2nd and Grixy had another game best forgotten. Ukuma had a monster of a game and I hope some of his aggression rubs off on Michael Lawrence and Fergy. Oh how we missed Fielden and Chan to take it to them.
One area where there is room for improvement is in the opposition 20 where our handling was nothing like as fluent as HKR’s who always looked dangerous in that part of the field. They could, and did, open us up with fluent passing whereas we, one instance apart, were laboured and broken with ours having to rely on DB’s kicking to create tries.
But we’re in a position I would have been happy with at the start of the season so we must be doing something right!

Yep thats him....and i wouldn't say miles the better team although they were the best team - the 7 point gap was about right in my view.

And someone else complained about Grix spilling/having the ball stripped?
Re 2nd comment, why not also complain about the others who lost the ball?
The number of times we 'lost' the ball was totally out of character. 3 of their players around ours - suspicious???
So, Grix had a shocker?
He had the ball stolen twice/spilt the ball twice.
Shocking wasn't it when he ran back and did a one-on-one tackle in the 2nd half to prevent a certain try.
Shocking wasn't it that he caught evry high ball that went to him. [What about the one which two others let bounce?]
Shocking wasn't it that he constantly joined in the attack.
If you're going to slag players, why not pick on the ones who really did have bad games?
[rests fingers and awaits the usual, predictable comments from the usual suspects.]

| Just seen the stats. No one stands out as having had a terrible game. Our forwards did a lot of tackling. Hull Kr missed more tackles but made more yardage but this was down to having far more possession.
The problem seems to have been the inability to respect possession.

Oh ffs, just for once, just for once, can't you give it a rest?
Other fans are actually allowed their own opinion. Or aren't you going to be satisfied until you've run every other Fartowner off these boards?
You win, OK?

Grix was one of a number of players that were well under par !!! However the ball strip is a common problem recently for Scott Grix hence my comment about it as recurring problems are something the coach should address !!!
However Ivor here is a list of players I thought the same about from my view point in the well in order to be fair to Mr Grix.
Ferres, Crabtree, Kopjack, Ferguson, Brough in the second half was anonymous, Dwyer, Faiumu, and Lawrence who fails to deliver any go forward at all !! You can't just pick a man because he tackles !!!
However to return to my point about Mr Grix this is the third/fourth time he has been picked in his own 20 and each has cost 6 pts within two tackles and in a 7 pt game it swings the balance.
Yes there were lots of errors and indiscipline which put HKR on the front foot but in most cases it was not a recurring theme !!!!

| I fully agree with you that Grix had the ball stripped from him, ie stolen, with 3 or 4 KKR players in the tackle. So how can that be Grix's fault????
You slam a player for having a foul committed against him?
I will stand up for any player who gets constant criticism based on scapegoating.

| Disagree re Lawrence. Just as you can pick a player for what he offers in attack you can do the same in defence. Attack is built around three or four pivotal players who the rest of the team feed off. I reckon defence is fairly similar. If you spread your best defenders out equally across the pitch it enables the poorer defenders to be placed alongside them and not put in a position to make as many tackles. Anyone who makes 50 tackles a game is a value to the team. That is not to say he shouldn't be looking to improve with ball in hand.

oh dear here we go again over your lovechild mr grix!
i also singled out ferguson who was poor in my post.
gave praise to taai
and in other posts on threads mentioned crabtree who had a poor game too
regularly praise players on performances and give a balanced view on them if they have a good or bad game ill say so. including grix who i have praised for good games too.
