| Giving it the "Big Mister" dear me, i can understand you have read this a lot but i cant understand why you have such a problem with other fans trying to make a difference, im sure in the past you have sang etc but you have to be honest with yourself the atmosphere at the Galpharm is utter rubbish gives, and dont pretend it isnt. It may be due to the fact that i love to sing at Town games and i want to carry on theat with the Giants games as i know if we dont we will lose the younger generations as especially young lads enjoy a good sing sondg etc fo they may wel ditch rugby and go to Football. I am looking at the bigger picture rather than just now, however we need to start to change how things are.
Dont have a go at me for saying what i think, i dont care how old you are age is not a issue the issue is how to get fans to sing and create a atmosphere and if all your going to do is have a go at me and the other fans for wanting some change well i feel sorry for you mate as im sure you want the best for the club but maybe you are doing it the wrong way. But a few ideas never hurts anyone.

| I'm doing it the wrong way? And criticising folk on a message board is the right way is eh? I think you need to check your own posts before you get all precious if I 'have a go at you'. Feel sorry for yourself, not me. You're the new generation of fan and you don't even know all the songs! You seem to have confused 'trying to make a difference' with 'lecturing people on a message board'.
A drum wont work. Half the people hate them, as this thread has shown. A song sheet wont help because the singing section of the crowd is peppered out now as the crowds have grown and the newer ones are recalcitrant with regards to singing. The problem isn't going to be solved by lecturing people on here, is it. You need to find a way to engage these quiet, misery guts type fans so that they choose to get involved. How do you do that then, Einstein? Find the answer to that one and you will get what you want.
It's easy to say things need to change but it's going to take more than a drum and a song sheet. ATEOTD you're the new generation so stop moaning and start doing. We old farty types do our bit and have done for years.

| Sorry but i am attempting to help, what you mean when i said the singing section dont sing enough, well they dont its just fact. I have supported Huddersfield all my life and i do know all the songs thank you very much, whats wrong trying to help the club, the whole point of forums is to discus these kind of things aint they? In the past i have sugested certain singing sections where everyone should sit etc and a few seam up for it yet most dont want change yet expect somthing to happen and it wont until we do this as a group as big as possible which im sure you will agree with. I dont understand why you are having such a go at me when i have not done anything wrong, i have only said what a lot of people think. saying our fans dont sing enough is true and you dont seam to be able to live with it. No need to have a go at me.

| Eaton makes a valid point about the lack of atmosphere at many home games. maybe it is something that the supporters association can look at.
I often feel torn about whether to go to away games where there is a MUCH better atmosphere due to SINGING or to go to home games and financially support MY Club.
I know my nephew who has had a season ticket for the last five years would rather go to watch Town becuase of the better atmosphere even though he prefers rugby to football.
For all the kids who sit in the riverside stand at some games other than what goes on the pitch it is about as exciting as going to school. This will not win us fans in the future. For a lot of kids what goes on off the pitch is as important or even more important than what goes on it. We have a good competitive team but still the atmosphere is as flat as a fart regularly.
My liitle ones who are 4 and 6 go to games because i take them. they like to see tries and something exciting on the pitch BUT are far more interseted in cheerleaders, singing, sweets, mascots etc. The little one really wants to go to the CAS game next year becuase he wants to see the Tiger.
On Sunday when we were at Perpignan they loved seeing the two Dragons and joined in singing Allez catalans. They were absolutely made up at the end being able to shake hands with Brett Hodgson and Kevin Brown ( both of whom were really good with the kids and who came across as being very child friendly). Yet at home games the players tend to go over to the Britannia stand and applaud the fans where they obviously get the most support from. The trouble is the fans in the Britannia stand would go to games win lose or draw. It is the kids in the Riverside who need to be won over to keep them coming back.
Where i sit Tansey and me sing all the time. One or two others join in. I often see younger kids joining in and looking around at us. they want to be part of what is going on . However, there parents do not join in and the kids they soon become self conscious and stop and look embarrassed when they realise they stick out like a sore thumb. whilst that level of self consciousness may not affect adults like me for many others it does. I sometimes think the half hearted singing exacerbates this problem.
The club has a policy aim of winning over kids but seems to have little strategy on how to do this.
I am certain that the club are missing a trick here.
There are answers to some of this most of which have been aired on here before , and all the points i have raised here have been mentioned to the club ad nauseum.
Without winning new fans, the club has no long term future. Eatons comments reflect that feeling unfortunately.

| There is a very obvious solution to this which was touched on earlier. The crowd join in with the 'We all hate Lids' because of the music being played by after a try is scored.
The club need to take the lead and operate an American style of geeing up the crowd with music and images on the screen. It may be simplistic and a but 'junior school' but we can see it works already.
Also the Riverside is the family stand therefore I would expect there to be less singing in that stand that the Kilner Bank stand.

| If the atmosphere iis good from the start of the game then we usually continue throughout the game e.g. Hull game. So things like getting the crowd going before the game would be perfect. What about having the words for Wise Men on the screen before kick off with music so we can all sing it, make it our anthem. It may well get people in the mood to sing during the game.
Also i cant come to the game on saturday since i am in New York, which is why im gutted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are we not on about the atmosphere at the Galpharm not the Stade Gilbert Brutus?

Since we are talking about the atmosphere at the Galpharm I think it's irrelevant whether or not I went to Perpignan this time but I've been twice if it helps score brownie points.
What I do find odd is that you are spouting about the atmosphere - wanting a create an atmosphere at the play off and are not even attending yourself. Some would rightly call it hypocritical.

| Like I say my son loves going to the matches even at Laund hill!!! Yeah he's disapointed when Big G isn't up there but it never deters him from singing. He also loves any mascot regardless of who team they represent. He never shuts up at matches and loves everybody around him. I personally can't comment on my atmosphere generating as many on here know why!!! I am all for it but without a drum and certainly not standing An atmosphere can be generated in our stadium regardless of numbers but with the mingling of fans from all ages in all stands you will get odd looks or told to shut up.
As for the dig about Catalans surely many will understand that going there doesn't give you one upmanship and thats why Wadski's replied how he did. Catalans is a very costly expense and also time consuming so many can't make it for what ever reason so it shouldn't be judged on whether folk go to that one! I've personally been all but two Giants matches all season Catalans being one and Saints the other but that doesn't make me any better supporter than someone who goes to fewer we all have valid reasons for why we can't make certain games! Catalans for example my son started full time school last wednesday and to go to France would've meant him missing at least one day which isn't good when he's only just started!!

| Whats wrong with wanting a good atmosphere at a game i am not a, as it is a important game it will help the team. I would have never mentioned the catalan game if you did not try do one over on me. Infavt talking of catalan may i say how much of a discrase some of our more senior fans acted, drunk all throughout the day then on a bus there calling people on the bus 'french f*cking b*astards' very good image for the club. It's more the way you are going about it. I appreciate your sentiments but you are preaching to the converted and people who have heard this argument many, many times in the last three years. People who have created an atmosphere for many seasons and feel that maybe someone else should take the lead. There is no 'ring-leader', nobody to get things started and unless someone either takes on the role or (as I mentioned earlier) the club take on the role, then very little will change.
You have the sentiment right but are speaking to the wrong the people in the wrong manner. These guys are the ones who do something, who sing, who get passionate.
