| You know we could sign Billy Slater and someone would say why not Greg Inglis
Lunt has gone, given his contribution in the last seasons it's no great loss
Robbo and Wood will do for me, Leeming to step up soon

Seems to me that some of this lot haven't made the trip to Whitehavan, Workington or Carlisle. Think on.

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |

| I cannot see how anybody in their right mind can, in anyway, shape or form justify this decision as being sensible financially, organisationally, succesfully or in a footballing regard. Quite possibly one of the single most dumb decisions I have ever seen a sporting organisation make. He is the only player we have who has won a Grand Final. He may well be the only player we have who has played in one. We are 4 weeks into the season. We have a 1-3-0 record. The club must've known in the off season that Lunt wasn't signing for another year. We have let him go to a rival team, for no return and unless the club pulls an international hooker out of their sleeves in the next week or two, with no adequate replacement.
Then again footballing and recruitment decisions at the club have been atrocious for a few years now. The Simpson signing, the O'Donnell farce (strikingly similar), the Mason affair, the lame donkey extension etc etc. Unfortunately it seems that the last few years have been as good as it gets and we should let the club settle back to it's more natural level of being a reasonably big lower division club and forget the Superleague experiment.

| but at the end of the day if he doesn't want to play for us then he should be sent packing, regardless of how many grand finals they've won if they don't want to play for fartown then they are rightly shown the door.
why would we keep a player who is unsettled, doesn't want to be here and risk upsetting other members of the team just because he has a grand final ring?

I'm not saying they should keep him, I'm saying they should have got rid of him 3 months ago (however the club talks about winning trophies, the only way you will win trophies is by bringing players into the club that have won trophies, you can't just recruit players and hope they'll wake up with Grand Final rings, sometimes that means swallowing your pride and accommodating those players. Simply saying if they don't want to play for the club is alright but eventually you end up with a bunch of players who aren't good enough, especially if you haven't won a trophy for 50 years). Then they have more chances of replacing him. If you are letting him go now get something back for him. He's an England international, we should get something back of equal value. If we can't he can rot in the reserves. Or alternatively meet with him, thrash something out. It's not like the club didn't know he was out of contract. Did they talk to him in the off season? Surely, yes. Richard Thewlis says they offered him a contract "some time ago" which he rejected. So they knew he had no intention of staying beyond this year. As others have said it's not like he was ripping up trees last season either.
Keeping him and then letting him go now makes no sense whatsoever unless they have a top class replacement lined up (which I somehow doubt).

Mate if he doesn't want to play for the club I would like to know why rather than just ship him out. Going to Leeds is one thing, going to Hull KR is another entirely. What is wrong at Huddersfield that a class player like Lunt was/is could turn into the fifty per thats been turning out for the last however long before sloping off to Hull KR for getting dropped?
Who is Lunt's agent BTW?

| disappointed that he's leaving, but more disappointed with the fact that he hasn't been playing anywhere near his best for us for at least 12-15 months. It's almost as if he's known he isn't staying and has been putting in half-ar$sed performances on purpose though i doubt a pro would do such a thing.
By all accounts he had no intention of staying here and had asked to leave...it was clear from his performances his heart wasn't here anymore, and in my opinion, it never has been since he came back from Headingley when he made it clear he wanted to join Leeds !
It has also been mentioned its another of his dummy spits, guess we will never know, but fi true do we want a player who is going to sulk every time he gets dropped ?
As good a player he is and has been for us he hasn't shown anything remotely like a player committed to the cause for a while.
I thank him for his part he played in this club and wish him well for the future !!

| My view (probably incomplete - apologies if so) of the changes for the 2015-6 season are :-
Gone: Jason Chan, David Faiumu, Antonio Kaufusi, Peter Aspinall, Jack Miller, Larne Patrick (loan/exchange for Jack Hughes), Shaun Lunt (loan)
In: Craig Huby, Jamie Ellis, Jack Hughes (loan/exchange for Larne Patrick), Oliver Roberts (young), Mick Learmonth (young), Tyler Dickinson (young), Liam Johnson (young).
Without wanting to denigrate any of the new squad members, it seems to me that the resultant squad is starting to look considerably weaker this season than last.

Chan, kaufusi, aspinall, Miller- none of those players were making the squad. So replacing players on big wages who weren't making the squad on a regular basis with young players is weakening??? I'd say it makes good financial sense. The only player we have missed is faiumu IMO.
Quote: tromso " He is the only player we have who has won a Grand Final. He may well be the only player we have who has played in one.'"
Shame he hasn't been playing like one then..... He's just been demanding the wages........
Going by your logic - Perhaps we should get Gilmore back......

| I was meaning the entire squad - not just the ones who regularly make the 19.

| As a HkR fan i can't undestand this deal from your POV makes no sense I'm not going to complain because SL is exactly what we needed, maybe your size of fan base is starting to have a effect on the club's coffers?

I would caution you about believing what a Club Official reports? Lunt served the Club well, so can the so called supporters get off his back and move on.
Tonight's game will give us an insight into the Recruitment and contract policy that the Club have implemented. Going to be a long hard season only Playoff will be to stay in Superleague.

| Really have no drama with this! Lunt has great potential and has been off his own good standard for a while! Speculation been going on that he wanted to for a long time and didn't really want to come back from leeds! Much prefer players who want to play for us not just use us as a platform for where they want to be....much like Nathan brown, much better to have players and staff seeing us as where they want to be in the future not just a stop gap.
Lunt did well but with Ellis getting to grips with brough freeing up robbo to what I believe is his better position at hooker and wood proving his eagerness and determined side at Oldham and claiming his place and cruise in the wings he is excess to requirement!
At 25 he needs to be playing week in week out. Especially with being out of contract he needs to be in the shop window and get himself his deal. No hard feelings towards him just you cannot have three hookers like wood robbo and Lunt with one in the stands!
