They can afford and do pay proper contracts- perhaps too much. Gaskell being one of the highest payed at our club- earning more than previous international player, and clough not far behind.
Wardle has gone to cas because we have no need for a centre as we signed turner. But I agree cas have recruited smarter than we have.
We don't know what this current Giants squad can do as we haven't had a settled team on the pitch for long enough to find out!

Our previous signings before Stone have been poor that has go us in the situation we are in now. Yes we did have a few good players come in but in general the signings stone has made has been a lot better than those of Andersons. We do have players we need to change but it will all take time world beaters aren't always available straight away.

If the Faifai Loa deal came off we were going to release him to Halifax before the deadline. However, as it didn't and Murphy is out for the season we couldn't risk it in case Darnell or Jerry picked up injuries.

yeh lawrence to prop could be a good idea, but then again he has hardly any go forward as a second row so not sure it will be a good move! suppose its watch this space, fans and paper being going on like lawrence is the new messiah returning to the team! that would be mamo for me!

can some fans not see that teams have peaks and troughs... we have had out peak a few years ago with the lls and play offs, top 4 finishes... we peaked with a settled squad and not many injuries in that time... players move on and coaches etc.. teams change... thats what has happened to our team last few years and been compounded by injuries... we have come through it slowly and building towards that peak again.. may take another 2/3 years but this season has been a step back in the right direction...next season we can aim for top 6 and if we have luck with injuries will be back in the top 4.

castleford have been building for few years now, we have been ahead of them when we were at our peak but not its their turn, their team and built up over the years and certianly had luck with injuries.. look at wigan, they are struggling, warrington, catalans... happens to them all.. hopefully we are coming out of our downturn not and building again, stick with them!

How do you know about contracts. I'd be surprised if Clough and Gaskell are on big contracts. They came from a lower division club and will have hardly had lots of teams wanting to pay big contracts to get their services, yes both have previous SL experience, they are not going to be in the same sort of demand as Jerry, Cudjoe and plenty of others at our club.

I can't say who the conversation was with- but let's just say they are in a position to know What players are paid and that person wasn't best pleased with the contracts given to these two in particular.

at the time we signed gaskell he was the hottest property in the championship with a few other sl clubs after him. he then had the injury problems after.
