Watched the highlights (your tries) against HKR. Have to say those first three tries were vintage Ryan Brierley. All you have to do is harness that ability, don't turrn him into something he isn't, (i.e. he's not a ball playing half back yet) and you have a match winner. He certainly showed that his 'Championship pace' works pretty well in SL too!



Congratulations on working yourselves out of a tricky situation. Like us, you can now thoroughly enjoy the MPG!

Why on earth did Stone not play him at Leigh?

History now,the Giants are gearing up for a big challenge for 2017,Leythers will be 4 comp points we are looking towards with some expectation.

Of course, we may be 'improving' in the close season as well!

Improving? or just getting some new old and experienced aussies?

Id have Glenn Stewart in a heartbeat. Just the kind of player we are missing, a bit of mongrel and a leader.

can't say i would no, you'd be spending big money on him for probably little return and maybe 2 years of playing time, if he stays fit.

He's exactly what stone says we have missing- a leader!!!!

You can't play for SL in increments anymore,contracts are worthless.Stewart spent a third of his contract at the Cats and walked away.Might aswell have all players on per season contracts only.

Why the anti Leigh vibe???



They have more than deserved promo to SL so good luck to them in making the step up. Seems they are recruiting well so I for one will not be underestimating what they may achieve next year - some fans seem to have learnt nothing from our drubbing at LSV 2 weeks ago where we were soundly beaten



Truly hope we can perform better next year and we could do a lot worse than show the same level of commitment, teamwork and effort that Leigh have all this year.

Back on topic - Brierley and Brough is a dream pairing and Ryan will only have benefitted from the SL experience so far - I am sure he has much more to offer the longer he plays for us.

regarding stewart, he seems to have gone to leigh for family reasons as his son was struggling at school with the language



he has gone well for catalans this year but once people started losing their commitment to the club the results fell away



as for a leader at the giants, that was supposed to be hinchcliffe.. never seen him as emotional on saturday!! was good to see

Hinchcliffe leads by example but he's not a leader. He's a do as I do. Stone said that too. Stewart is a leader of men. He's a do as I say. We lack one of those.



Funnily enough I remember a player saying something to me under Jon sharps reign we had too many wanting to tell the others what to do he said we had "too many chiefs not enough Indians"

I was well-chuffed that Brierley didn't take to the field that day. I bet he was champing at the bit too!!



He's a half-back (always will be) with great back-up play and speed to burn. And, more importantly, I am sure HE prefers to play in the halves.



However, even though he's SL class (Tony!? You still bitter, mate? lol) and will score plenty tries at that level, his defence is weak.



I would teach him defence TECHNIQUE because even the smallest of players can drop a big guy if they tackle properly. You don't always have to hit them hard.

I've actually been really impressed with Ryan's defence. Not noticed any issues there whatsoever.. Actually reminded me of how Brough defends.

Stone said brierley hadnt had any top class coaching in his career but he's got by on natural ability. Hopefully finally getting the coaching he needs will improve his weak areas and allow his strengths to get even better. We will see after a full preseason.

Ryan definitely seems to have the right attitude to take his game to another level. I would imagine he's had a really tough time mentally with the way things have gone. Yet he managed to step up and win the game in the most pressured game of his career.



They say the best step up in the big games.....
