Many people have wanted an atmosphere without the drums, with 30,000 people it should be a cracker.'"

| I love a Brass Band, makes me cry. My fave film is Brassed off. Cried when my daughter graduated this year and was paraded through Huddersfield behind a brass band. Bloomin great.
I'm under 50 too, well only just.

| Mmm seems I was wrong then. Good job I didn't put my original thought of 70. I just have always associated Brass Band music with my parents and grand parents.
Each to their own. If you like it then good for you I'm sure you'll enjoy it. They can't please everybody all of the time, although I did enjoy the gospel choir they had prior to the 2006 final.
I still think it's a bit of a northern stereotype thing though.

| Brass band ? I'd rather listen to the Warrington drummer. Looking forward to Hayley Westenra though. Saw her at Proms in the Park. Awesome.

| As I said earlier in this thread, Just over 50 and love Brass bands as i played in one from an early age till late teens, and the music is northern like OUR game and a Family and Community like OUR game, we should remember OUR heritage and why we love this northern game, how and why it developed, the brass band community is also predominately northern and developed from the victorian working mans values, sense of pride and we couldnt have better pre match entertainment. so cant realy understand why anyone should question the entertainment choice, but i am just an ex brass playing northen lad from doncaster living in Huddersfield. Come on fartown

Not really, but I would certainly think the public perception is that they are and that perception will be fueled by things like Brassed Off and the Hovis adverts. As well as the fact that most of the most well known bands are from Northern towns and cities. In the same way that most people would recognise bagpipes as a Scottish thing or male voice choirs as Welsh.
I will say though that ATEOTD it will be better than Scouting for Girls.

| Can't stand opera singing.
Should have brought over the newly reformed Grateful Dead.
