| seems to be alot of giants fans there but all over the place!
quite alot in the upper tier which im guessing will be the ones who bought the reserved tickets.
i headed for where most the giants fans went too, which was side on block 104 to 106. i dont like sitting in the sun but thought id rather sit where most giants fans were.
just a real shame hardly anyone got any chanting going! but no surprise really... a few of us tried but got no help. i think we have lost a generation of fans who usually get chanting going 18-30 bracket due to those years of finishing bottom.
and the supposed chanting fans went behind the posts why go there when most were above.. and why go behind the posts for a poor view. should of just mingled with above and got things going. your own fault if you turned up too late to get a decent seat.
we must of been the only team with no chanting, widnes, salford and bradford were all bunched together and in voice.
overall though a very good day and a great result.

| another note i think sitting half way was always going to be a bad idea to congregate as the neutral fan will always try sit there and dilute the fans we had who were sat apart due to this.
didnt work last year and didnt work this year.
a lesson for next year, maybe sit the other side next time next too where the bradford fans were, where our tickets actually said enter by those turnstiles this is where we were hoping to be led.
seems the tickets have these turnstile entrance numbers on to try and get you to sit near there... like the bradford/widnes and salford fans did.

| brearley, my point exactly about sitting on the halfway line, as that is where the neutral fans tend to sit.its not really feasible for groups of fans from one club to congregate there as it will invariably annoy people who just want to sit and watch the game.
that's why the singers tried to congregate behind the posts as we knew there wasn't enough seats for all the giants fans to sit together. that's why most fans tend to congregate away from the halfway line because then the singing, chanting etc wont annoy others.
we tried hard to get people to move and come and sit behind the posts but most people weren't interested as they had bagged themselves good seats, so hardly suprising then that the atmosphere and chanting was poor.
fair play to anyone who tried to get people singing in a predominantly neutral area tho

| I have always said that maybe in future to try and encourage teams fans to sit together that each club could be allocated a block to try and encourage fans to congregate in that area?
maybe allocate a block each for a club either at the ends of the sides or in a corner and then hopefully any other fans will know what their fans will be and will automatically head for that section leaving the halfway line free for neutrals and other fans who don't want to sit with their own.
it would be unreserved seating the same as it is now but would probably stop the free for all for the best seats on halfway and encourage more fans to sit together?

Exactly, that was the problem yesterday - a lot of our fans took halfway seats which as time went on were filled up with other teams fans ...We went behind the posts because we thought we could try and get a group together to get some noise as there weren't enough seats together in the middle blocks to accomodate people who didnt get in early.

| We tried to get in 104 but there were not enough seats together for our party of 6. Having said that, the Salford v Widnes game had been on 10 minutes when we got in.
Ended up just round the corner at the end.
Pleased with the amount of Giants fans there, really good numbers.

| I agree. Let's hope the lesson is learned.
There were a couple of teenagers sat just in front of us who did their best in starting chants. Some of the time some of us joined in, some of the time we didn't.
Hats off to Jools for suggesting that we congregate in one particular area. However, let's do this a bit earlier next year and suggest somewhere a little to one side of the centre, say on the 30 m line?
[iSomeone[/i has got to remember this for next year and start plugging it around April - perhaps with a note when the tickets are sold?

| Did look like there was a few of you there. Didn't sound like it though.
I do think one of the positives of the MW is fans mixing together, but I think it would have been better atmosphere if you were all grouped together giving us some stick. (Wouldn't have been hard considering our performance)
Anyway, congrats on the win and see you at Odsal for the tie breaker!

totally agree with this
lets get it right next year
would be a good idea for sections to be mapped out for teams to sit with a flag or something but cant see it happening so its upto us to sort it next year and earlier but half way line isnt going to work , going to have to be around the 30m line
imagine if we were just below the reserved fans in the upper tier, that would of looked great!! but we were all over and opposite them

| i think there must have been 2 or 3 seperate groups of giants fans in just about every block of the lower tier rather than in one big lump - like all the other teams managed.
Our fans seemed more happy to be sat on their own or in the sun surrounded by neutrals than try and all sit together.
Maybe next year we could try and all sit together

| We were in the reserved seating and there did seem to be a decent number of Giants fans in there. Looking across there were a lot of Giants fans in the unreserved section and a very good proportion were there for all three games, which goes a long way to explaining seat choice.
I think the area below our reserved section would have been best from the standpoint of vocally supporting our lads, perhaps the club could urge the RFL to allocate our tickets on the other side next year, having had our reserved seats on the "cold side" both years at Murrayfield and now both times at the Etihad I think that not unreasonable. I feel as a group we are better than most at taking in others matches but seem to get second class treatment compared to others.

| The problem is when I suggested this quite a lot of people wanted a good view, didnt want to be in the "cold side" of the stadium and weren't prepared to sit to one side- I suggested 104 as it was slightly to the side of halfway and thought we could track further into the corner to try an please everyone-unfortunately many dismt get there quick enough and others sat right in the centre. But it did sort of work as we were clearly visible- widnes and hull kr fan friends of mine came to sit with us for our game and were pleasantly surprised by how many of us there were. Comments made on other forums have said similar too. We just have too many fans set in their ways.

| The numbers weren't a problem as there were plenty of us there but not everyone gets to the ground at the same time, some people were in the ground very early and obviously naturally went and sat in the middle blocks with the best views - but the problem there is so were fans of other clubs, meaning that only the very early Giants fans got to sit in those areas and obviously unreserved seats cannot be 'saved' for others who aren't there.
That is why we saw blocks full of fans from each club either in the corners or round the other side because they realised they couldn't all get in the popular seats so went in less populated blocks so they could all sit together and create an atmosphere.
We got in the ground around half-time of the 1st game and though there was a group of about 15 of us there were not enough seats in the middle blocks for us all ...same for those who came in even later, hence why we had pockets of 5,6 + fans all scattered round.
I understand the point about getting in early but surely its better to try and all be sat together rather than if you dont get in early then tough - sit on your own. Our fans seem to have the attitude of i've got a good seat bugger the rest where other clubs tended to try and get their own fans together, but like Jools says too many of our fans are stuck in their ways and wont change !!.

| I think if its the same set up next year I will look to going in the reserved seats.
that way I will be sat amongst our fans.
I think also one of the problems with our support is that without being disrespectful, a lot of our supporters are of the elder generation and therefore don't want to sit with other fans and sing and shout. likewise,a lot are families and couples who, again are quite happy sitting amongst their group and enjoying the match without getting involved vocally. its a sad fact that we have lost 2 generations of fans and will never get those back.
therefore at events like this, whereas most clubs have groups of young people, 18-30 who usually congregate and make noise, we don't, we have families, couples and over 55's who are quite happy just sat watching the game. its the same problem at home games unfortunately.
