In the long term i agree. It is the best way to spend our limited resources
BUT when posters come on here and say Lunt lacks ambition by going to HKR when they have just signed the following players
Albert Kelly
Maurice "Bobby" Blair
Kevin Larroyer
Kenneth Sio
Kieran Dixon
LUNT ?
is crass stupidity and the sort of arrogance we rightly criticise Wigan and Leeds fans for.
Particularly when they are playing behind a pack which ripped our much daunted big pack a new one at Huddersfield last season
I would ask the question of Jools
ARE we so much better than HKR that Lunt moving there is a lack of ambition. ?
Or are you just caught up in your C and G specs and have switched your brain off.

| Durham- It's about the ambition of Lunt as a player-
I will answer you question with my own.
Is he any more likely to win silverware with KR than us?
He has already said he would like to go to aus, with a year left on his contract with us, is signing for KR on a few years less ambitious than seeing out his season with us then trying his hand down under?

| Durham I think you need too go back and look at what happened last season
Most of the games we lost last season were because the team were lazy and thought they could win without working for it
Rovers at home is a case in point - for 70 minutes we were so much betterthan them it was funny but lazyness meant we didn't put the effort in to make the scores and then put the cue on the rack with 10 minutes left
We dont need new players we need the ones we have to play for 80 minutes like they mean it

Is he any less likely to win anything at KR.
Our best season is behind us.
Unless we suddenly get a good crop of youngsters like Leeds did with Sinfield and McGuire or Man U with Beckham and Scholes we are not going to win anything.
We will be steady but we are not going to win any trophies any time soon.
Do you think an ageing Brough and Robbo backed by Ellis and Wood are going to trouble any of the top teams in a 4 knockout game play off series. ?

They have as much chance as us.
Hence my original question .
Why have a go at Lunt for lacking ambition when he might be going to a team which looks like they have as much chance as us next season if not more !

Because I don't think they do have more chance. Wholesale changes just don't work, ask Leeds, ask us and ask salford.
Anyhow it sounds as if he's off. With journos saying he's defo going to replace
Hodgson. (They are always right )
What a shame if true -but if it is its a case of Thanks for the memories ..... NEXT!

Smurph
Wardle
Cudjoe
McGillvary
Brough
Robinson /Wood /Ellis (Dependant on form, injury and who will partner brough best)
Koppy
Lunt
Huby
Taai
Ferres
Bailey
Erol
Johnson
Mullaly
Leeming
Grix is getting on, let's blood his replacement early and get him settled behind a quality back line! Lunt will almost definitely be gone next year and I'd like to see Leeming (an out an out hooker, not a half back turned hooker) replace him, so this year put him on the bench to interchange with Lunt so he can get the exposure and experience required.

| Wood was in cracking form when he got injured and was turning into a very good halfback
I'm hoping to see more of the same from him

I think Anderson has already said that Robbo will be the interchange Hooker with Lunt starting and I'm happy to see this. I think it will be then upto Ellis and Wood to fight it out to start alongside Danny.
I'm more intrigued to see who starts at full back. As I've said before on here, I'm a big Grix fan but I'm certainly wouldn't have a problem if Murphy gets the shirt. I do feel though that Grix is a full back or he doesn't play - he shouldn't be considered in the halves unless we have an injury crisis.
We started to bring out the better side of Broughton the longer the season went on and the more he played so happy to see him continue on the wing if Murphy gets the full back spot. The other wing is sorted with Jerry and I'm sure we'll have a rejuvanated Leroy and player of the year Wardle in the centres.
Connor & Leeming should be given more and more game time as the season goes on but at the moment they wouldn't get in my first choice 17.
The forwards. Crabtree, Ferres, Ta'ai, Huby and Bailey are certainties for me - Hughes, Koppy, Mullally, Johnson & youngsters like Roberts to fight out the remaining spots.
While I do think we currently look to start the season with a weaker squad, on paper at least, than last season, potentially naming a 17 while leaving Grix, Wood, Connor, Leeming, Mullally and Roberts at home shows we have a depth of strength of both experience and potential that we shouldn't underestimate.
