People get a bit excited because O Brien is a young homegrown player who has SL experience and could improve and prove to be a great signing. With no quota spots available he was probably the best available hooker available to us.

Cant see why we would try sign Ben Kavanagh - unless it was a 1 year deal on peanuts but surely its going to affect the development of Mason, Smith, Dickinson?

Think we have quite a well balanced squad now if a 2nd rower gets injured we have 2 immediate replacements ready and waiting.

Mason/ Smith/ Clough I expect to all be a similar standard so good for rotation.

Totally agree. Last year all I heard on here was the need for a massive squad overhaul. Now it has happened people are saying what about the youngsters. Rugby is a squad game you need at least 25 players over a long season and the more the better. I also have no issue on getting rid of any of the departed players.

I wasn't totally sold on the first three Bulls players but happy to see what RS can do with them, These youngsters and the two Aussie signings i am more than happy with, I am just looking for a season of improving this time, anything better is a welcome bonus, We could have a nicely balanced side that will surprise a few good sides. Like you i have no issue with any of the players who are gone, in fact i was calling for a clear out for some time, none of them were going to improve, we now have quite a lot of players who could improve greatly.

Because we get better crowds and sell more corporate deals on a Friday

Over the last 15 years the avg attendance in SL has been around 9/9500

who's to say, that it wouldn't increase if there was more weekend games.?

the rest will get there chance when injuries come along, think we have a good squad n if the key players keep fit most of the season we will go very well. For the record i do rate oli roberts but his chance will come again was a hard choice leaving him out. Also picked my team if all fit and available as i know mamo probably wont be ready until march time and gaskell is always an injury doubt.
