| thought grix was one of our better players last night, can't blame him for any of the tries, we were cut apart right through the middle time and time again and grix was left open every time with no supporting defenders around him.

would love dobson not sure it would work with brough though, miller wont be super league anytime soon.
connor primed for full back, wood no better than robinson

luckily they turned up last 5 games otherwise we would not have had 10 points!

| Quote: Ivor C&G Scarf "And Grix missed which tackles? He stopped the man with the ball when faced with that situation. Twice that player managed to pass to supporting players who also had broken through our line. He caught every high ball. He supported the attacking line. Scapegoat time again???
However, I most certainly agree about Bruno.'"
not scapegoating, give any players credit including grix when due but sick of seeing grix fail to stop a break from opposition. not SL standard im afraid. too small to wrap players up-thats why they can offload, half the time they just bump him off or simply go past as he lacks pace too.
yes lawrence sorely missed.

| How do you stop a break when by the time it gets to the fullback it is usually 3 against 1. If the last man runs at him he has to tackle low in order to bring him to ground. So what chance has he then got of stopping the offload.
I would be more concerned with how many clean breaks the Giants are conceding in the first place.

| I don't think Grix let us down last night, however I would concur with your general point - how many times when the line is broken does he save the day? I think to Brett Hodgson - how many tries did he prevent as well as create? Granted, there aren't many of Hodgson's ability - but I don't feel the same can be said of Grix. He's full of enthusiasm and organizes the defensive line well, but I would like to see more from our fullback if we are to have serious playoff aspirations. I had thought of Gaskell but on today's showing I'm not sure he'd be much of an improvement - if any.
Up to a few weeks ago we've marveled at Robinson throwing lovely passes from dummy half in the warm-up, only to see Lunt and Wood play hooker. Apparently Robinson is paying the price for being battered in the forwards so why persist with this activity? Surely a better use of his time would be to learn to throw a half decent pass when running with the ball. For a halfback coming through Wigan's junior ranks and played a decade of Super League I can't believe his lack of handling skills. I like to see him take the line on but the choice of passing leaves plenty to be desired. Chan and Ta'ai did not impress last night but outside Robinson they are limited - on too many occasions no sooner do they get the ball than they are tackled by the defenders as the pass has been delayed for too long. A short pass near the defensive line is all well and good for players running onto the ball into gaps, but how many gaps are we making down Robinson's side? He is another whose energy is commendable, but in a key role like 7 we need creativity - Brough is having to shoulder too much.
Kopczak two crucial lapses in defence last night, Chan a real disappointment. Our forwards are not playing with the same intensity as they showed last season. Did the World Cup come at a bad time for us? With the World Cup and injuries, was it not over ten that missed a significant chunk of pre-season? When Kopczak joined the first team at Bradford he looked quite cumbersome, yet last season he did a good job for us - despite his arm injury. This season, however, he has been disappointing. Eorl has done a huge amount of work this season and needs greater support - Huby's stats seem to compare so let's hope those rumours are true.
Too many 'soft' performances last night. We got what we deserved. St Helens weren't fantastic - they didn't need to be - but were far too good for us. Wellens (and I presume Brown) laid the law down last week after the Wire loss and they came out with some fighting spirit. Ours seemed to be either lost in the thick mist over Holmfirth, diluted by the torrential rain in Oldham, or parked on the M60 in the traffic jam.

| The team as a whole don't play like they want/believe. The forwards are really disappointing - there isn't enough aggression. Why? Where's it gone? Maybe it's all part of the master plan for the play-offs..... ah, crap... my tongue just fell out of the side of my face.

Everytime we look like having someone with a bit of fire we get shut of em. Kafusii farmed out to Bulls, Griffin sold/released to Leeds, Walker sold/released to Hull KR. We are really lacking some aggression and mongrel up front. Need a couple of Stuart Fielden, Luke O'Donnell, Justin Poore, type players to rattle a few bodies. We are too soft and other teams must love a week off when playing us. Backs have no chance playing behind a pack in reverse gear.

| Tbf looking at the stats apart from masoe saints pack were as poor as ours. Kopczak leading the way with 6.57 metres a carry.
We didn't cover roby - and that was the difference. Him making breaks up the middle.

Spot on.
Reading some of the comments on here about your pack I could be reading about my own team's pack. We've had the same problem since James Graham left but this year has been exacerbated by three of our good props being injured.
Roby had a blinder for us.

| 6.57 metres against a poorly performing pack is not back to form. If 21 tackles and 7 carries is good enough for a starting prop then that's a sad state of affairs for our team.
He is underperforming but so are many others. Lunt leroy brough Eorl robbo ferres chan jerry for me aren't performing as they did last season- which explains our poor form.... Let's just hope they start to pick it up soon.

read the post again at the start, i did look elsewhere for the missed tackles.
