The Communist Cap - dragging down success and aspiration to the levels of those who cba.: |

| Quote: XBrettKennyX "It's a strange one again.
Firstly I think Wigan will go into this 100% and you guys will be in for a shock. If you beat us then fair enough.
However, from a progression perspective there is a case to be advantageous for Wigan to lose on Thursday.
We lose, beat Stains. Clubcall tradition dictates that Huddersfield would then choose Wigan.
There is a school of though that says it's better to play Huddersfield than Leeds or Warrington in a semi.
As I said, I don't for one minute think Wigan will deliberately go out to throw the game, but a loss is by no means the be all and end all.'"
I'm not sure how much clearer I could be............
I'm presuming you CAN read?

| I'm bored of this now. This guy has been peddling his delusional nonsense for weeks.
The FACTS are that Wigan's bubble burst way back in late June.
Since then they have only won two super league games (both close calls) out of nine.
They have won the challenge cup by beating Leigh, Hull KR, Widnes, london and Hull. the easiest passage to the cup ever.
They are totally out of form and their best player is injured. Many of their current side are not "Wigan quality".
None of this is a deliberate ploy. They are simply going through an appalling run of form.
They could win tomorrow but I'd be surprised. If they lose then I wouldn't fancy their chances against Sts. if they win even with a home tie I wouldn't fancy their chances either.
I admire your optimism. But it really isn't going to happen. leeds and Warrington are far bigger worries for Giants.

| To sum up he's basically saying we'd rather go to Huddersfield in the semi final then Wire or Leeds and guess what? He's 100% correct.
You guys have taken offence at these comments from Wigans fans but I really don't know why. You've had a great year but your record in knock out rugby simply doesn't stack up against Leeds or Wire. We know only too well that winning the LLS counts for zip when you get in to the play offs.
You really shouldn't take it so personally.

I don't think anyone is taking it personally. It's just boring.
All he does is continually peddle a theory that Wigan have not been trying for the last two months, save for cup games.
If offered the chance of playing Leeds, Warrington or Wigan I think Giants would go Wigan.
If Leeds were offered the same choice I think they would go Wigan too

The theory that we've not been trying is total rubbish, I agree 100%. We are where we are because of a mixture of things but that doesn't change anything in regards to who we'd like to face in 2 weeks time (should we get that far).
And I agree with your other points. Given the choice (and presuming its the top 4 teams competing in the semis in 2 weeks) you'd all choose Wigan because it's the 'done thing' to choose the lowest ranked opponent. Add in that our best player is injured and it's a no brainer.
I certainly take no offence at that!

A strange one, you that is, you seem to think if you lose then Wigan are the winners, if you win then Wigan are the winners , so basically Wigan are the winners, no matter what.
You can't lose the argument, as you haven't really got one
Firstly if Wigan think they will win this game because they have more experience in the knockouts than the Giants then they are in for a shock, if you beat us fair enough you're the RL darlings and favourites.
However, from a progression perspective there is a case to be advantageous for Giants to lose on Thursday. We lose, beat St Helens. Clubcall, Leeds or Wire will choose us and you'll get knocked out in the semi by either of them.
We'll beat Wire or Leeds in the semi as they'll think we fallen off the wagon has everyone was predicting at the start of the season, and do them in their own back yard.
As I said, I don't for one minute think Giants will deliberately go out to throw the game, but a loss is by no means the be all and end all.
See what I did there, yeah, I did the same as you, talk b00llck?...

| I love this "we did it before" lark. Back in the day hudds were good at winning playoff games then they stopped. It never occurs to other teams that winning a knock out game isn't a right, or a foregone conclusion just because they have done it in the past.
I just wish that the Wigan team felt the same way as their fans!

Most Wigan fans think we're going to get mullered, I just hope the team doesn't think the same way

It isn't a right or anything like a foregone conclusion but you must admit that experience of winning these games counts for something?
If it doesn't Leeds must just be ultra lucky! Talent comes in to the equation massively but that knowledge and know how is massive.
I look at it like this-
Talent- Hudds, Wire and Leeds are all equal.
Mentality and experience- Leeds are streets ahead of both but I'd also put Wire ahead of you guys due to their CC record.
Things do change though and I liked the look of the steel in your side at the DW.

| It was not so long ago that Leeds couldn't win a Final to save their lives
Don't forget that - it took them a lot of losing to learn how to win, and now they boast an untouchable record of Grand Finals
The Giants have gone through the same process, we know all the ways there are to lose, now all that's left is to win.

| But yet Leeds cannot win the Challenge cup during their 5 titles and Warrington cannot win the Grand Final?
What matters is NOW and the mentality of the players. We Giants fans have seen first hand that a lack of momentum makes it hard work. We both lost last week but in massively different circumstances. Momentum.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |
