Quote: COCKNEY GIANT "To offer a 29 year old a reported 4 year deal is rather disappointing to say he will be 30 in October - lets just hope the length of contract is speculation.
2 years with the option of a 3rd would be more plausible but I would be happy to see him play in the C&G colours the back row would be awesome with him and Falagoo.'"

and the penalty count would be awful.. i work woth a cowboys fan and the fans cannot wait to offload this fellow

[sizeHuddersfield Giants wait but Luke O’Donnell is confident of £1m switch [/size

Quote: " GIANTS officials are still waiting to announce that Aussie Test player Luke O’Donnell is on his way – but reports from down under suggest it is a done deal.

The 29-year-old back row forward’s manager Wayne Beavis has yet to confirm the deal for the North Queensland Cowboy, but the player himself seems sure he will be at the Galpharm for the 2011 season to start a four-year contract.

The Sydney press are reporting that O’Donnell has secured a $1.8m deal with Huddersfield, that’s around £1m, with the player saying his repeated brushes with the NRL judiciary had been a factor in his decision to leave the Cowboys.

In what appeared to be a parting shot at the Australian code’s lawmakers, O’Donnell was reported as saying his passion for rugby league in Australia had been eroded by the number of bans that had made him the most suspended player in NRL history.

Since 2000, O’Donnell has been suspended 10 times for a total of 29 weeks, with his latest suspension being a three-match ban for a dangerous throw on Queensland winger Darius Boyd while playing for New South Wales in the second State of Origin game this season.

The Cowboys are believed to have wanted to retain O’Donnell, but their three-year $660,000 deal has been dwarfed by the Giants’ reported offer, which is said to be worth around £250,000 a year by the press Down Under.

O’Donnell was also reported in Sydney as saying he wanted a fresh start after a decade of run-ins with the NRL and said

COCKNEY GIANT, the figures quoted in the Examiner are purely to save face at North Queensland Cowboys. They are incorrect. If I was to estimate his salary. it would be nearer the £100k mark per season

He has missed 29 games in 10 years. That is 2.9 games per season due to bans. I could live with someone who has that bad a disciplinary record if in the other 25 games he is a star.

even with that poor a disciplinary record it would take him 8 years to catch up with what Fa alogo has missed through injury this season alone !

As for injuries he did have a lengthy spell opu after being subject to a wishbone tackle from Liam Fulton and another wests player who tried to split him down the middle by pulling his lega apart.

He will only be on a bit more than Danny Rough, and the difference is that he is a good player. We need some agression in our squad, in my eyes the perfect signing.

Danny Brough is a good player !! - Will O'Donnell be a poor player if it takes him time to blend and he doesn't have a stormer every game ?

You mean like Fa'alogo this year and Brett Hodgson in the pre-season friendly at Cas in Jan 2008 (was it 1 from 5?)

I was making a comparison, but since you have brought this up, what does Rough offer to the team? Its strange how you can play so bad, yet one or two of our fans like him.

Well a proper rugby league fan will see what Brough offers - or some fans choose not to see the good things and expect miracles ....and then if those dont come then he becomes the scapegoat......Again !!

I was at castleford where two numpties were stood behind me slaging Brough off at every opportunity. Whilst he had a bad game that day they exaggerate deverything bad he did saying he could not tackle etc. Give Brough time. he wa sbound to struggle in ateam that itself is struggling becuase of weknesses in our pack, Playing a game with 4 fit props, our first choice back row and O'Donnell into that and i am sure you will see a different Brough.
