| Nope -she’s not American either- that would be his fathers 2nd wife. His mum was in Trouble for defrauding thousands from the family company to fund a gambling habit.

| seems the hastings deal still on then for this season
interesting about brough going to wakey... but he had signed a new deal for giants so be abit strange for that to be ripped up all of a sudden
uate in tears in the changing room after fiji game today as he thinks it could be the last time he represents them with him playing over in super league next season...
could be out for upto 10 weeks after todays injury

What’s interesting about an unsubstantiated rumour- remember brough had definitely played his last game in March according to three absolutely nailed on sources!

Where has this Brough rumour come from Brearley? I haven't seen anything anywhere?

| Brough been telling players he’s off to wakey, last few wakey games been on box there too, so could be brough angling to get improved deal with us or him realising that if Hastings comes he’s under threat for spot in team, although he’s germs best mate now so will probably be untouchable now

| Brough out Hastings in would be a great bit of business for us. Free's up lots of cap space to invest in some good young or at least not totally over the hill players. Hope it's true and he's off. Been a fantastic servant, but time to get ruthless like good teams do.

What a daft thing to say.
Imagine what giants could do with a left footed kicker like brough alongside a right footed kicker like Hastings.
Hastings isn’t instead of brough- he’s as well as him - Hastings in brough out isn’t a good bit of business- it’s a terrible bit of business- it doesn’t improve us- it keeps us static! And we swap a player who gives a damn for one that probably will be off in a couple of years!

| Jools, you do know that Brough is 36 in January?
Moving Brough on is great business.

Moving brough on would be great business if we had two halfbacks with his quality to replace him. We don’t.
Replacing one good halfback with another good halfback is standing still.
Replacing one good halfback with one who may decide he’s homesick, or have a fist fight with another player isn’t good business
IF we sign Hastings he’s a risk.

| Clinging onto to a 35 year old half back who is visibly losing his powers and is increasingly letting his frustration come out is not “moving forward”
If the club wants to be a big club that wins trophies, it needs to be ruthless.
But I long since reached the conclusion that they club does really care about winning trophies.

| and Yet successive coaches have continued to select him.... funny that....
Brough still has more to offer at the end of his career than any other player we have in our side- let alone any other half.
If there were a plethora of half backs out there in The game id maybe agree with you. There isn’t.

| I disagree completely. We can win without Brough, we have shown this in the last few games. Indeed our upturn in fortunes occurred without Brough on the pitch. He is as often a gamewinner as a gameloser, he has lost us games this season by being relied upon, and shooting his mouth off, ending up in the sin bin and costing his team dear. So , his contribution to games aside, which i would argue has been 'balanced' this year (good performances where he has controlled games with kicking offset by bad performances where his ill discipline has cost us) he is now a bad value for money. You have to remember that when you base your game around a player and then he gets sent off/loses his cool this has a MASSIVE effect on the gameplan.
Brough is quite simply poor value for money. He is unreliable and losing his skills, and i would much rather base our gameplan around younger and more reliable players even if they may not be as good as Brough when he is at his best, and stays on the pitch, which these days is pretty rare. He has served what 6 games in suspensions so far this year, and been sin binned at least twice i remember at crucial times in games.
I would much rather risk Hastings, who may well prove to be a great singing, than keep Brough a known quantity who is ageing and has probably the worst discipline this season in superleague.

Successive coaches selected Brough when he was younger. Those decisions are irrelevant now.
Everything you’re saying would be spot on if Brough was 27. But he’s not.
The plan for Brough is all about replacing him, not some dream about him playing alongside a right footed kicker.

| I do wonder what you lot watch sometimes.
Our problem has been brough is all we’ve had- everything has revolved around him because frankly we’ve had no one else with any kind of handle on the game or game management.
No he isn’t the player he was- but to suggest he offers nothing- or less than Rankin, Gaskell Russell, turner, is just bonkers.
(And two of those are earning probably similar next year)
if you can’t see what a positive it would be to take that pressure off his shoulders and have people alongside him rather than around him then perhaps you should stop watching.
