Huddersfield Giants will be led into the 2012 Super League season by Nathan Brown as their Head Coach.
The popular Australian has penned a 12 month extension to end weeks of media speculation surrounding his future.
Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said:
“This will be viewed as great news by everyone connected with our club and a wonderful fillip for us all as we enter the second half of the season sitting second in Super league and still in the Challenge Cup.
"Our progress under Nathan has been excellent and to have him as our head coach for a further season is simply marvellous. We have respected his wishes in making this decision in his own time as it’s a big call for him to make but we are naturally delighted that he remains here with his family in West Yorkshire. We can all now knuckle down to our respective tasks in the knowledge that we have a man at the helm who we all feel here can bring silverware to this great club which is our objective. I am sure that the fans will show their appreciation to Nathan and his family in the coming weeks ahead and like them look forward to watching his team evolve and improve as we progress this and now next year too.”

| Well i am probably the only one that doesnt think that this is good news. I believe that he should stay but should have commited longer. If you look at our drop in form last year it all ed around his (understandable) decision to go back home. This year when there was non-comital signs coming from him we get results like crusaders. I just think that these things are tied and that this time next year we will be in the same positiion. He is a great manager and i would keep him longer but from personal experience this short term stuff and uncertainty is not good.

| I just think they need to clear matters like this up early doors. It was slightly different this time due to the Brown's not wanting to make a decision until after the baby was born, however next season it does feel like it would be Nathan's last season with us at which point Paul Anderson will take over.
Next season it needs to be sorted up front, that way there can be no doubts in anybodies minds and the players can just play.

| Oh they might of been uncertainty this year, but we are still 2nd (joint top) of super league and NB has alot to do with that. That said it is absolutely brilliant news! Also agree I think the players expect Paul Anderson to step up next, so these long term signings won't be a hard choice.

I thought our drop in form had , at least, 3 factors1. Nathan's situation +
2. Hodgson's announcement that he is going to the Wolves +
3. 1 & 2 above happening when our games were - wigan warrington wigan warrington bulls and saints [5 of the 6 games were against the top 3 in SL]
We have NB for 18 months. He has made it clear he would never go to another SL side. So it is likely that after 4 years he will return to Oz.
In the summer game how many leading Oz coaches have done more than 4 years, I can't think of any.
I think having NB for 4 years is fantastic.

| I think he will only leave if he gets a job in the NRL or his burnt down house gets rebuilt. Jon Sharpe was on a rolling 1 year contract, and i'd expect this to be the same.

| Great news for the entire League. Really happy for you, and I hope he stays beyond this current contract. Great character, great coach and even great for England considering how far he's brought on your English players.

| Over the moon when i heard the news he has been unbelievable for us and has moulded a very good unit. I also agree his stock will rise if he wins a trophy here in terms of picking a head coach's position in NRL. Its a shame he wouldn't commit to longer but to be fair contracts don't mean a great deal thesedays anyway. I just hope we can break through that barrier now and win someat c'mon Nathan you can deliver!!!!!

Danny Kirmond admitted that news of the contract extension for popular Head Coach Nathan Brown was a huge boost for the side ahead of Sundays Engage Super League Round 15 game against Hull FC at the KC Stadium;
“We were devastated! No in all seriousness everyone was delighted to hear the news that Browny was staying on and had signed a new contract. It hasn’t really played on the players minds too much but everyone is really pleased with the news and I’m sure the fans are too. Nathan has taken the club forward a considerable amount over the last two and a half seasons so it’s a boost for everyone to know that he’s staying here.

Danny Kirmond
“When he walks into a room he’s got an air of confidence about him and that transfers itself to the players. He doesn’t talk any nonsense and he tells you exactly how it is, that sort of honesty is appreciated. If you haven’t been on your game then he will let you know and there’s every chance you won’t be playing the following week. You know where you stand with him and if you aren’t playing well for him week in week out then you won’t be involved for very long.”
The 25 year old back-row forward has started the last three games after an injury interrupted start the year and is looking forward to facing a rejuvenated Hull FC side, who are unbeaten in six games having hit form recently.
“They probably felt like they were a bit under pressure at the start of the season and sometimes that can happen to teams before they really get going. Their performances for the last six weeks have been really good and we know they are on a bit of a run, there’s no doubt it’s going to be a difficult game for us – it always is when you go to the KC Stadium.
“We had a couple of scratchy games over Easter but we feel like we put that right with a good performance against St Helens a couple of weeks ago and then we had to dig in deep against Catalan but we came through with the victory in a tough game. We are looking to kick on week to week and keep improving; if we can do that then we will see where it takes us.”
Kirmond also praised the strength in depth within the Giants ranks, with fellow back-rowers such as Jamie Cording, Jon Molloy and Jacob Fairbank making their first team debuts this season.
“We’ve got a great squad full of depth and everyone in that squad can come in and perform really well, some of the younger guys have really stepped up this season and shown that they are Super League players, that’s making it more difficult for everyone in the squad because guys are chomping at the bit to get a spot every week.”
