yeh maybe, he can play half back after all too so can play abit!
dan smith was talking other day on the podcast.. its his final year and his agent was saying we wont see the best of dan smith till they let his play his style of play... which is a ball playing forward, could be a good loose forward for us if given the chance to play that way but under anderson and stone we havent seen it

| Quote: GIANTSRL "but maybe they are also being lost to the game of rugby league, this is where the argument for reserves comes in, they may have progressed better playing in the giants reserve games... playing to our systems and the first team coach would actually turn up to games like they used to do.
we cant afford as a game to be losing players.
warrington got a player from siddal who the giants were desperate for.... went for the cash to warrington'"
Who from Siddal went to Warrington?

There have been a few over the last few years that have had their heads turned by wire flashing the cash.
There’s a lad from siddal gone to Wigan too, Morgan smithies his elder brother was in our academy a few years ago. Won academy player of the year last year.

| Club loses loads of players from Siddal to Leeds and Wigan at scholarship level, that’s not about money, money only comes into it at academy level, Morgan smithies was/is a Leeds fan but went to Wigan as he thought they were better team, he was never coming to huddersfield

Money has everything to do with it- who has it who doesn’t.
No one said smithies was coming to Huddersfield but with all the players at Wigan’s disposal the fact they have taken on a lad from Yorkshire is pretty telling about the game and the money don’t you think.

| my mates lad plays for siddal... had choice to join huddersfield or leeds but he has gone to leeds, prop
instead of the money sometimes they should look at the future pathway for them depending on what position they play, but you cant really blame them going to a 'bigger' club

It could be Riley Dean, a very talented fullback/halfback.

| Riley dean went at 14 to wire and hudds never offered him a spot as he made it clear he was off to wire very early in the declaration process

| At 14 all clubs with a scholarship submit a list of 20 players to rfl around June time, most clubs after the same core group so if you offer 20 spots and Leeds and Wigan have 8 similar to yours and that 8 go to either Leeds or Wigan you end up with 12 of your original picks, happens every year, sometimes players let clubs know they deffo won’t come so stops them wasting a spot while others like to collect offers

| Quote: HuddsRL5 "Yeah think it was confirmed on the full 80 minutes podcast that Wood and Johnson were never watched by Stone or Woolford.
Think it will be different for Sam, from what I've read he's had a really bright start at Batley, I'd be disappointed if he didn't have a future with us... However, in saying that it does make you wonder given Woolfords comments when we resigned wardle, about us needing depth at back row / centre when we've sent Sam out.'"
Without sounding harsh I for one am glad he didn't. Mikey Wood has become a very important part of our pack and really grew into the 13 role as last season went on. Really pleased we signed him up.
Liam Johnson has potential and is a good line runner with an eye for a try.unfortunately was found wanting in defence at times, and under Kear thats a big no no. Defence can be worked on though and I am sure he will have a good year at Dewsbury.
I was at our game against Batley on Sunday and Wood had a good game. Got his hands dirty and through a lot of work in the centre both with and without the ball. With him being so tall his frame is quite sleight think he would need a bit more size on to play back row in SL
