For me our priority still needs to be an experienced strength and conditioning coach. Doing another year with a rookie would be a bad move IMO. If only we could have bumper back....

Woody was OOC, Eorl retired due to injury, huby wanted to move. Ellis ok- give you that one.
Difference is why would ormsby and smith want to go when they are getting paid SL wages by us whilst playing at championship Oldham. Neither would get in a SL side. symonds wouldn't get a gig back in Aus now.
Still maintain some poor recruitment (some by stone as a needs must maybe but still panic recruitment) has set us back years. We've had some bad luck, yes, lots of it- but we've also taken on players with known injury issues and proceeded to try and deal with that with inexoerienced backroom strength and conditioning staff. If we continue with what we have next year then I don't expect us to improve on the field.
I've heard good things about Kane Daniels- but he's come up from the academy side quickly he hasnt really had an "apprenticeship" under a top class conditioner like Greg was lucky enough to get with bumper. Noonan lasted a year and Walsh a few months! Wonder why it is we can't get them to stick around? Is it they aren't the right person for the job in the first place, or is it that they aren't getting what they want/need to do the job properly? From what I've heard Walsh wanted certain equipment used for certain activities in training- and the players were expected by the club to pay to provide these themselves- even the youngsters getting paid peanuts.

If we have singed Faifai Loa then Ormsby will have even less chance of getting a game. He may get an offer for 3 years from a club like Halifax etc where he may feel thats best for him rather than waiting until his contract finishes with us the year after ...... at which point he may struggle to get an offer having played just a handful of matches in 3 years?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Symonds retire due to injury. He now has 2 really bad knees and someone mentioned to me the club were waiting to see how he recovers from his operation.

Smith will probably be kept on as a squad player.

If Tom Symonds does stay and once Bruno gets back to full fitness. You will find Alex Mellor will be training for the 2nd row in the pre season and will improve in doing so. Added to Ukuma Taai, Ollie Roberts and Dale Ferguson its really hard to see Dan Smith getting much game time at all as well.

I have heard that Bruno maybe switching to prop next season but we will have to see on that one.

yes rapira is going so will be that money from him to be spent.

stone himself has said there wont be many coming and goings for 2018... doesnt need to be anyway...plus we have had turner and rankin come in during the season with brierley leaving. ridyard on loan too in that time.

i really hope symonds can make it for 2018, quality player to have in the second row..one of our best players who has been a big miss.. our attack would be a whole lot better with him in it.

I saw Bruno last week close up and I believe he looks 20lbs bigger than last season
so you could be right Jake,

This current Giants squad simply isn't good enough for anything other than the bottom 4! Fact. The Giants cannot get big game players? Only cast offs including the coach from Australia. Says it all when warble goes to Cas. They either cannot afford or will not pay proper contracts for proper players! With crowds of barely 5000 that isn't surprising! Giants need a clear out from top to bottom and badly need fresh financial assistance!!!!

Well the current league table suggests they are good enough for a top 8 finish !!

i agree about freshening things up though.

They can afford and do pay proper contracts- perhaps too much. Gaskell being one of the highest payed at our club- earning more than previous international player, and clough not far behind.
Wardle has gone to cas because we have no need for a centre as we signed turner. But I agree cas have recruited smarter than we have.
We don't know what this current Giants squad can do as we haven't had a settled team on the pitch for long enough to find out!

Our previous signings before Stone have been poor that has go us in the situation we are in now. Yes we did have a few good players come in but in general the signings stone has made has been a lot better than those of Andersons. We do have players we need to change but it will all take time world beaters aren't always available straight away.

I've heard the exact same.

If the Faifai Loa deal came off we were going to release him to Halifax before the deadline. However, as it didn't and Murphy is out for the season we couldn't risk it in case Darnell or Jerry picked up injuries.
