We don't get to many world class signings and those we have had have generally been a disappointment - I'm happy just to improve gradually tbh.

Don't understand the Huby rumour.
we Getting rid of one experienced prop to make way for an aus player who will likely cost more doesn't make sense to me.

It's just a rumour, I'm not getting any conformation from our side. Maybe he wants to go, lot of bad memories for the lad at your place - not you the club but what happened in his personal life - sometimes you need to move on.

3 players in yes, but couple more to come
and dont forget the signings we made during last season (ormsby, brierley, ikahihifo, symonds) which may have been signed now but came in early to help us stave off relegation... these players will improve having had a pre season with us too instead of coming in half way through a season.
the team/club needed a culture change and im glad it seems to be happening.

huby rumour has been going for a while now.
he will be on a big wage here at the giants
overall he has been a disappointment with the odd flash of what he produced at castleford only to then get injured.
im happy for stone to sign a player he actually wants unlike the 3 he had to take.

It does if he is a better player, I'm not saying he is, but if RS brings him in he must think so. Huby has been far from our worst player, but to be honest he has not performed anything like as well for us as he did for Cas, That may well have a lot to do with PA's coaching style, ( or the lack of D Powell's ) and Huby may get back to his best under Stone. I have the feeling the squad is not complete yet, at least I'm hoping not.

I would be more than happy to trade him for Johnston if you are agreeable. Good luck for the new season by the way, I have many happy memories of Wakey from way back.

I'd want a bit more than Huby for a player I personally believe will be a genuine world class player if he avoids injury.

Black Backgrounds/Statler.gif Run leroy , run !.... And he did - twice - and we partied hard...:Black Backgrounds/Statler.gif |

| Bradford 3 could be puppies...or could all be great signings..,fergie looked good in internationals , clough is an unsung workhorse, and Gaskell is a talented enigma.
IMO definitely need a full back still - Mamo, yes please.
Still like another prop - whilst keeping huby.
That would be my Christmas list , please Santa..,,

| Quote: shrops giant "Shannon wakeman of Illawarra Cutters hinted at by the giants fans fb page (they do seem to get a lot of the rumours right too).
His stats for last season are immense (although admittedly not in the top comp).
Played every game, averaged 155mts per game, 28 tackles per game, named in the comp (NSW) team of the year. 26 years old, never played 1st grade, which loads of st.george fans on their forums are having dickey fits about, and seem pretty outraged that he's not getting a chance.
I'd be chuffed with us taking a punt on him.'"
So basically an Australian championship player hmmm

| Wakeman looks a good player and has been mooted as a possible replacement for Ben Hannat (thinks that's how you spell it) at the Cowboys.
As we've seen in the 4 Nations debacle, the Intrust Cup would probably be a similar standard to most of SL and this is the area we should be looking to recruit from. Hunger and the desire for self-improvement is what we need in any import.
Also Wakeman would probably be on considerably less than Huby.
Still need a hooker, definitely a full-back and a bit more beef up front especially if Huby goes. and what about the Fijians? Don't forget RS was the national coach so I wonder if there might be something going on down that particular avenue?

The rules on overseas signings prevent us signing a none NRL player. Wakeman has played for Italy therefore circumvents the rules

Considering hes been judged to one of the best at that level this season, hes probably a very good player, certainly SL I would say. Hes been deemed as unlucky not to get an NRL start by some of the their fans. A hard runner by the looks of him, just what we need.
