strange how some supporters only seem happy when we lose.
of course every one is entitled to their opinion, but some people only ever seem to post when we lose and you don't see sight nor sound of them when we go 4 games unbeaten, but i guess that's the nature of the beast.

Quote: GiantMisterE "It seems like your opinion is not valid unless you are one of the 200 loyal supporters'"

why do you say that? the "200 loyal supporters" are the ones who go to every game home and away and therefore are usually in the best position to comment on the game if they actually went to them, obviously the games recently being on tv means that most of our fans get chance to see the boys in action, but for those games not on tv, generally the one's who don't go usually pass comment based on the final score rather than the performance or individual players.

it's not that it's not valid it's just obviously better to go to games to form opinions.

I don't agree that this is always true.

As you say, the last few games are on TV and arguably the people watching at home are in a better position to comment with replays and differing camera angles - Salford and Leeds hardly give a spectator a 5* view.

It's just appeared to me that a number of people on here (and FB) have been shot down for their "negative" views because they weren't at the game on Saturday.

I don't often post but get to all home games and as many away games as I can. I'm not going to Cas but should I post after the game if I'm not going to be complimentary???

FWIW, I'm not particularly happy with the way this season is going but I'm not going to stop attending games. However, I can see why people choose to

How do you know if a poster has been to a game or not? Is somebody taking a register?

You mustnt have answered when they called your name out!

But on topic........................

................as some have stressed -its a forum and the nature of the beast !

Some will say "dont change a winning team" - some "field your strongest squad "
both have merits
but who can say how the former would have performed Saturday -its total supposition- it didnt occur and cant be proved conclusively one way or the other

But many times the "disruption " doesnt work -and in the cup - end of! The coach however is the man in charge and his security depends on making the correct decision armed with more info than any of us will ever have- so all this is supposition as well

IMO the argument goes much deeper and revolves around the old chicken and egg theory
Its not down to blooding youngsters / experienced stars / punching above weight etc

Like many of the other longstanding fans weve all got our individual take on where we are and where we are aiming. And for a considerable number of years and despite KD`s massive contribution we still stand between the devil and a deep place
Yes we won the LLS and PA got coach of the season and we`ve had MOS as well
But sadly against the Old Trafford grand final that is belittled
As Durham and 40year old suggest -that was achieved on the back of overall greater consistency than the chasing pack - not on the "big game /KO performances which though despite finishing TOP DOG we couldnt match in one off games ON THE DAY!
And that IMO IS the prob
Win the glory trophy/s so many are desperate for and we might (have a chance) of getting somewhere near the attendances Ken has aimed for with other financial initiatives
Increased attendances then provided the finance for the class half back partner for Broughy that others desire
And hopefully that along with strengthening other positions leads to more consistency - and more BIG Match performances
And round it goes! Sounds simple - but not in Huddersfield as the famines been long and hard

So for the time being we have to hope that the rising stars come through the academy ranks
and to be honest we havent been doing too bad on that score

So despite "stars" bring rested /injured but then being recalled for the biggie -if it doesnt bring the required result - to me its a no-no from an additional angle
It sends out the totally wrong message to youngsters who have been introduced and tried their utmost to "not let the senior players down" They`re presumably the pick of the crop --so it offers little encouragement to the "others" who then look elsewhere for opportunities if theyre at all ambitious and in turn jeopardises the clubs appeal to other youngsters in their advancement in the game

Somewhere the cycle HAS to be broken and within the constraints of the club`s (and Kens) budget
You either WIN some big games and silverware (easier said than done,).... or
make changes in coaching policies /personnel (risky?)
or look longer term than instant fixes and give the really promising youngsters a chance to learn their trade AND prove whether they CAN hack it or not alongside their peers. Sadly at the moment without an additional KD I consider ( and this IS a FORUM of differing views! icon_wink.gif ) this would ultimately achieve the best results long term though many I accept want it NOW! Many of us longer suffering fans I feel would prefer it SOON!

Time will tell which route the board decide -and meanwhile we`ll carry on having the quiet periods when we`re winning ...and the debates and squabbles when we arent! icon_wink.gif

can't argue with any of that crackers.

no one knows who goes to the games, its the usual faces at away games though, but my point being that a lot of the negative stuff comes from people, especially on the facebook pages, from people who aren't regular attendees, as i said everyone is entitled to an opinion of course they are , but my point is that surely people who go to games have a better idea on which players are doing the business and which aren't compared to people who just see the result and form opinions from there.

nothing wrong with having opinions and healthy debates, but it just seems to be a one way negative street

For the people who are saying not to renew Paul Anderson's contract who are they looking towards to take his place, bearing in mind that the club is working at a loss every home game and the current coach and a possible future coaches hands will be tied financially.
I believe that Paul Rowley is quite happy where he is, Chris Thorman or Kieron Purtill I don't believe would be a better option. Personally if there is to be a change I'd be looking towards Brett Hodgson if we couldn't entice Paul Rowley first.
C'mon get behind the team as it's can't be the end of the road when the league table shows that it's the closest season in years, teams like Warrington lose four games on the trot, winning margins are far closer in most games and the table shows you've got the best defence in the league.

Ok, sat in a comfy position on the other side of the fence on Saturday (as meast has kindly pointed out, not the usual position against you lot in recent years, thanks meast icon_wink.gif ), here's what I think.

I think changing the coach would be a knee jerk thing to do, unless a clearly better candidate comes along. I think you have a very good coach, with a few things he needs to learn about getting over the line in the big knock-out games. That isn't always a quick process - I've been a Leeds fan since 1987, I'm sure you picked up on how many trophies we won in the first 12 years of my fandom... If you have the right set up, are progressing in the right direction and have a good coach and the right players, when it clicks the trophies will follow a bit more freely.

From where I'm sat, you're a few players short as well. You need another ball player to help Brough out. Ellis isn't that player. He has his moments, but he's no game manager. Robinson looks a little shot nowadays. The 3/4 line is as good as pretty much any in the league. No concerns there. The pack is big and nasty, and although ours got the upper hand on Saturday, I would chalk that up as a bad day at the office. Jack Hughes would do well to learn from Craig Huby on the best way to take your frustration out on the opposition ball carrier - flailing arms just give up field position. But I think he's a good player.

There is a big mystery in the team though. Perhaps you can help me with it, as I see far fewer Huddersfield games than you: Scott Grix. Likeable lad, seems a good pro. But, is it me, or is he just not good enough for this level? Every single time I've seen him he's fallen somewhere between average and absolutely awful (Saturday being the latter). He generally produces the odd good play to sort of mask the issue, but I can't see anything to suggest he really warrants even a squad place, let alone a regular start, in one of the top teams in the league.

Saturday was the worst I've seen you lot play in quite a while. I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water.

It's a mistake to assume every body who isn't blowing a trumpet or singing along isn't a supporter,
I think it's great, but when you are at the other side of the field with 2 kids it's not so easy to join in. Away games are rare for me simply because I can't afford them, people with kids of their own will understand all about that, I pay for Sky as a family thing so we do get to watch games on TV.

I started watching Fartown when Murphy was coach so I can't claim to be one of the old timers who can recall Devery and Cooper etc. We have had plenty of Coaches since Murphy but IMO never one better. That's not to say all the rest have been rubbish,T Smith was good and has proved it , It's a shame things didn't work out with N Brown He definitely had the ability to improve individual players , I thought we were a very good side to watch in his early days.
Bret Hodgson would be a very good man to have involved IMO Darrel Powell has done a good job at Fev and Cas with a very average team.
PA is coach now and he will be judged by somebody with more say than we have, I shall still support the team with or without him,

Thats what ive said before, if Anderson was shown the door which i very much doubt at the moment then we would get kieron purtill as his replacement.

Warrington lost 4 games on the trot?!?! did the warrington forum want smith out? hope not as he has won some trophies with them albeit not the Grand final. icon_wink.gif

I've been saying since the play off last year we need to change our coach. This is not a reaction to the leeds game.

I do not think PA is a bad coach, I just feel he has taken us as far as we can. We have not improved over the last 2 years, we have declined (only slightly) and seem to be stuck in a bit of a rut.

I would not do it now, I would wait until next season then give Purtill a crack. A Tim sheens would be nice but in reality it would be Purtill.

As El Diablo said, we are weak at FB and SH (also hooker for me) so let's get some youngsters in the squad, we already have Connor and Leeming with a bit of experience.

Playing the kids will take a time of transition, I for one am happy to wait and watch these youngsters grow into SL players. Let's be fair, 3 seasons with Grix and Robbo we will win nothing so might as well win nothing whilst preparing for the future. When we have injuries play Learmonth and Robertts instead of getting loan players or re- shuffling the team.

'd love to see the younger players drafted in but is it wise now that promotion and relegation is back?We are in a good position in fourth at present but we have some very hard games coming up.
