See this is the thing HKR have got better on paper, you can sign quality players an it all looks rosey before a ball is kicked (thrown)

For me our signings have not been many or the marquee because they don't really need to be. I feel that our club is looking to not just the upcoming season but well into the future. The full time academy is evident of that approach. Our squad is quite young with younger lads already looking good to replace the older ones when needed.

We currently have a team that can consistently place high up in the league and compete with all teams. In a pre season you can put in new attacking, defensive systems, work on new one off plays and get fitness, strength, skills on the up. Players can learn, adapt and get better. The fact our squad is the same will hopefully get them playing better together and for each other the longer they are with each other.

Don't get me wrong I would love some big signings that would make some ripples in super league but I just don't think its a necessity.

we have shown over the last few years, that we aren't a team built on marquee players, but a team built on fairly solid foundations with players improving, i would say the exceptions are brough, ferres, and possibly robinson, who were all fairly high profile when they came to us.
the rest have been well coached youngsters and rejects( i mean that in the best possible way) and we have reaped the benefits of that.

Hull KR are ambitious and so are we in different ways. I think we are aiming to do a Wigan and bring in our own players from our accamadies and youth system.
I'm not certain not Hull KR's up and coming players but they are trying to build a side that will compete... I'm not sure if they are aiming for a quick fix. Lunt would fit in well with them but I think he's an inspiring hooker who took his chance. A good role model for our youth.

Look at salfords signings last season- were they ambitious? Did it do them any good?
Look at the season KR had last year, did they need to get better?
Look at Chase's move to Salford, did he show ambition? Amors move to saints? Different yes?
If Lunt were to go to Wigan, saints or dare I say it Leeds then that would be a different story. A move from us to KR...

hull kr have this turnaround of players every pre season, no stability at all, did same last season and were awful this year as predicted. bring in overseas players by the load too

oh and the signing of craig huby is one of the biggest signing the giants have made in years.. how this shows lack of ambition i dont know

I lunt was to go then robinson would become 80mins hooker, but for now its nothing more than an interest. wouldnt surprise though as i think lunt's commitment to the giants has been in question for a while.

BUT when posters come on here and say Lunt lacks ambition by going to HKR when they have just signed the following players

is crass stupidity and the sort of arrogance we rightly criticise Wigan and Leeds fans for.

Is he any more likely to win silverware with KR than us?
He has already said he would like to go to aus, with a year left on his contract with us, is signing for KR on a few years less ambitious than seeing out his season with us then trying his hand down under?

Durham I think you need too go back and look at what happened last season

Most of the games we lost last season were because the team were lazy and thought they could win without working for it

Rovers at home is a case in point - for 70 minutes we were so much betterthan them it was funny but lazyness meant we didn't put the effort in to make the scores and then put the cue on the rack with 10 minutes left

We dont need new players we need the ones we have to play for 80 minutes like they mean it

Our best season is behind us.

Unless we suddenly get a good crop of youngsters like Leeds did with Sinfield and McGuire or Man U with Beckham and Scholes we are not going to win anything.

We will be steady but we are not going to win any trophies any time soon.

Why have a go at Lunt for lacking ambition when he might be going to a team which looks like they have as much chance as us next season if not more !

Because I don't think they do have more chance. Wholesale changes just don't work, ask Leeds, ask us and ask salford.
