| l pushed HGSA with lvor many times on here in the last pre season l think lvor said we had 105 members, How many today lvor?, l miss a lot of meetings but when l can make it there,s usually about 20 - 30 there same old faces, and l don,t know if they are all members, its a quid for non members, that will put a lot of people off.
Maybe we should just face up to reality, the people of Huddersfield are not that interested, the back office staff arn,t that bothered, we have to wait for the next generation, and hope we still have a good club, sad but get over it.
l,ve said it before, there are some of the most boring, miserable, tight fisted people l have ever met in Huddersfield, this is going to be a very difficuilt job

| I'd never been into rugby, never really heard much about it. But I started to go to the odd match (first game 2009) with my mates and I became hooked. So I don't want to just give up on it as I think it is possible to get more fans. Target markets are people with young families, what a way to spend some quality time with your son than at a game? Groups of young males who go to the pub on a Sunday - have a pint at the game instead. Just need to get this message across. There's a lot of ideas flying around, but we are missing those new, fresh ideas that could really work with a bit of a push.

| Giants have over 14k followers on twitter, could be vastly improved upon.. with some initiative and ideas, its an avenue that needs to be used!! not many better ways of spreading the word
conorgiants fan spot on with the renaiming of the offiacial facebook page, its seems broken into two sections at the moment!
8831 likes for the above on facebook - leeds rhinos have 121,000 !!!!! now come on this is a joke, we should be looking at what they do and try replicate it..they are clearly showing the way to do things. i know leeds are a bigger club but still we are poor at this kind of thing, move with the times giants.
the above are the best way of engaging with the younger generations... some where we lack at the giants im afraid.
its not good enough, ken davy needs to set on a new media person!

| the supporters group is very much still in its infancy and it has done well
think the column in the examiner was a great move and well done for that but sometimes i lose interest in reading it half way down, just comes across abit boring and all about the past/heritage stuff ..which we are all proud of but maybe talk about the prev game/upcoming game etc sure we have ideas on here and plenty of issues/topics?
not wanting to upset anyone just how i feel when reading it sometimes.

| Brearley - This is why the HGSA want new members to try and improve things and bring their own ideas to the table, i'm sure the Chairman would be interested in letting others put stuff in the Examiner if they wanted.

| Quote: GIANT DAZ "Lack of Marketing staff - i think there is 2 from previously 8 - means there is very little in the way of marketing. '"
I've heard that the marketing team was pared down. I can't say I noticed the change, which suggests that perhaps the problem wasn't the number of marketing staff, but the quality and the budget they had to play with.
How many people were in Peter Deakin's marketing team when he triggered Bullmania back in the mid 90s? I bet it wasn't anywhere near as many as eight.

| The chairman is constantly asking members to write something!
And I don't think there's been much heritage stuff in recently - but I'll pass the message on.

| A lot of good ideas Conor. And on the rest of the thread. Maybe this offseason enough good ideas can be generated to build upto next season. The ones that stand out for me:
Identifying 5 big games to really push from a marketing POV. Actively target record attendances for the respective fixtures. Engage the supporters association, any other supporters groups, the e-fanzine and this board! There are obviously some really keen supporters on here that if could be grouped together could really do some good stuff. I'd say Leeds, Wire, Saints, Wigan and Hull or Cas picked as the 'tent pole' fixtures.
Mini season tickets. 6 games. Really helps people who live further afield who can't make every game.
Memberships. Make people feel a part of something.
Social media, social media, social media....... Can't underestimate the importance of it.
Make matchday as much of an event as possible. This is where we as fans can really make a difference. And I know stuff like this can get trotted out again and again..... The club listened to some of us about having a flag zone, and it just didn't catch on. This could be pushed again, flag funds etc. Get some real colour into the stadium. It wouldn't take many of us to group together to getting parts of the ground looking quality. I'd be more than willing to be involved in pushing this forward. Anyone else interested in this PM me.

| When the dust settles on this season, and l start to get a bit bored out here, l am going to write something very controversial
lt will be entitled "is --- ---- fit for purp---", ln the meantime l will search out my old army steel hat, and be on the lookout for a foxhole.
Watch this space.

| do we use crabtree enough? even people who dont know anything about rugby know who he is and who he plays for!
brough too..MAN OF STEEL.
get them plastered on social media, posters etc the latter costs money but the former not a penny
but when we have 8k likes on facebook and leeds have 221k we dont stand a chance, what a joke this is..needs someone to take social media things by the scruff of the neck

| Agree we need to push social media, we could do with giving stuff away - signed shirts, ball, tickets to away games etc to get people 'liking' 'following' I know where there's free stuff I'm there lol.
I like the idea of the mini ST, but there is one problem in that there is a big risk of your 4-5k regular season ticket holders going for this option instead. If there isn't a big uptake from new fans, the club are left out of pocket.
Loving the ideas though, let's definitely work on it out of season!!

| I would disagree about giving away things to entice people into following / liking you. You cannot 'buy' the right type of followers and why would people follow if there is no interaction?
The big difference between the Giants on social media and other clubs is the volume and quality of content. Leeds manage to tweet updates about almost every set and already have player cards ready to use when there is a try. The Giants policy is to tweet updates at 20mins, Half Time, 60mins and Full Time and there is little interaction.
Lets not forget that the club has recently lost a high profile court case relating to improper use of social media, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an element of resistance from the club.

Unfortunately, I think you raise a serious point. While we should of course be always making efforts to increase our support, performances like that we make it harder to attract new fans - and even retain many of the current 'fair-weather' fans. I think after losses to Wigan and Warrington in the play-offs last year it affected some fans who after winning the LLS thought they'd get a season ticket into thinking we still can't compete with the top sides when it matters so I won't bother just yet.
I've said before I think the only way that we'll make a leap in attendances will be after we lift either the Challenge Cup or win the Grand Final but it's important that when (and it will happen if not this season over the next few seasons) it does happen we have already done the ground work and already implemented many of the ideas suggested on here so that we can take advantage of it.
