| there is still no evidence on any pictures, moving or still that the ball hit the line,FIRST.
it might have finished on the line but it was short initially when he went to ground, how it got on the line-if it did- is anyone's guess, which is what the officials did- guessed!

It looks on the line to me.
I don't need to convince myself, I don't really care if it was or not because the officials of the game determined it was a try and their decision is final. Just like the other countless errors and wrong calls refs across the league make in every game.
Also to say that try prevented you winning the LLS is laughable.

| How is it laughable when it would have put us in clear second place with the leaders still to play.

Of course it does. You're a Wire fan. I'm not and it doesn't to me.
I'm not a Fartown fan either so don't really give a flying one and couldn't say whether the try cost them the LLS or not and we'll never know. IMHO the LLS is an irrelevance anyway.

Look at the zoomed in picture, balls on the line.'"
It quotes 'In the picture above, the ball can just be seen between Michael Lawrence's boot and shin.'
I don't think that is the ball, it looks like someones boot. If it's the ball it's a very strange shaped ball indeed.
The biggest problem for me is there are 5 Giants players in that picture. Ben Harrison should have been nowhere near the line in the first place. Credit to him for getting the ball to where he did and for bringing doubt into the refs mind.
I've never been a big fan of the VR as I've seen plenty of dodgy decision go for and against the Giants (and other teams). It should only be used if the ref and his linesmen have no idea what went on due to obstructed views. The refs themselves should be making more decisions and then we could get on with the game. At the moment we're losing too much after match drinking time!

I agree with you. I wouldn't like to say whether it's a boot or not between Michael Lawrence's boot and shin, but part of the ball can clearly be seen in front of his right knee (part of the "G" and "I" of "GILBERT" is visible) and it would have to be a very distorted ball to also be seen next to his boot.

Thought they used Rhino balls?

They do - it looks like part of the 'N' and the square 'O' of Rhino.

Having looked again, I'm sure you're right - my mistake! The point about where the ball is visible still applies though.

True. The writing on the ball is irrelevant.

| I have just watched the game back and yes I am a warrington fan.
Now don't get me wrong, at no point on the video replays do I see the ball touch the line, however while going through the replays the commentators stated that Thaler said the ball ended up on the line.
Now they also said and I agree, there was no evidence to suggest a try and also no evidence to suggest a double movement. Taking this into account if it isn't a double movement and the referee says it's ended up on the line then maybe this gives some clarification as to the decision?

| Now on reflection and after getting over the initial disbelief that the Harrison try was given a few things still bother me about the game:
VR decisions are far too frequent and take far too long. Originally introduced to clarify try / no try issues they are now used whenever the Ref is apparently not 100% - despite often being the closest to the action and having a linesman and in goal touch judge to call upon for verification.
I appreciate that the game is now very fast but you could apply that argument to all other decisions that are made in open play. The ref often has to use discretion for other decisions such as knock on vs. ball stripped issues so I would rather see the refs also decide on tries - unless there is clear doubt in his mind - sometimes tries may be incorrectly awarded as a result but that I could except as honest mistakes when they happened. VR has it's place but must be limited - no system is fool proof and no decisions will be right 100% of the time.
We now see Refs refer decisions such as re-starts to the VR - just get the decision made between the 5 on field judges and get on with it!
Also what is going on with conversions - we need to extend the game duration or decide that the clock stops immediately a try is scored. I am fed up with watching the kicker take a long drink, pull his socks up, adjust his under garments, and then call for the kicking tee. Several ball placements later and a good old hokey cokey dance around you get to see him kick for goal. In between all this the Ref tries to start a Mexican wave by raising both arms in the air only for this to be totally ignored by the crowd as most have retired for a cup of tea by then.
Same as for in goal drop outs - these really are quite theatrical - the defending team suddenly all become blind as to where the ball is - mill around apparently trying to decide where it is - then who should be the one to actually kick it (as if they don't know) - then make several unsuccessful attempts to get the ball to that player - then the kicker eventually ambles under the posts to kick off. Same could be said for kick offs just with the added joy of the additional wait while the kicking tee is located.
All of the above is destroying the game and spectacle - bad enough at the game - but even more tedious when you see it on TV - any new viewer must get bored very quickly - or otherwise have a warped view of the apparent slowness of the game. We sometimes make American Football look quicker - at least they openly change their defensive/attacking/kicking teams!
Or perhaps I am getting old and inpatient - probably!

| The VR is nothing to do with making the correct decision and everything to do with creating talking points. If it was the former the VR would be sat in a room in Red Hall with a live satellite feed and would make his decision and transmit it to the referee who would signal try/no try. Instead we have the ridiculous sight of two men trying to manipulate a touchscreen while Stuart Cummings gives his opinion based on whether the editor thinks there needs to be a controversial moment in the game or not.
We are going towards the blurred edges of sport and sport entertainment.
