| Plus Reillys discipline was appalling.
He would spend half of the season suspended if he played now. He would be best mates with Carney at cas probably as they would have ben meeting up at Red Hal on a weekly basis
Not that i am complaining he was great for us but was virtually playing in a different era.

| Quote: jools "murphy played two games at full back last year that both stood out.
game 1 - bradford "mudfest" - murphy was extremely solid - in that game our defensive line was extremely solid, bruno made over 50 tackles and bradford didnt make any significant breaks as the going was hard work, due to the conditions the ball didnt bounce (it squelched) so kicks were long with it being difficult to chase due to the inches of mud, murphy had lots of time and space although in extremely difficult handling conditions.
Game 2 - widnes - dry and clear day on the ipitch, murphy was shocking, widnes tries all came from badly dealt with kicks where as fullback he failed to cover - he had less time and space to work with.
fullback is one of the few true specialised positions there is. I think murphys handling is better than grixs especially under pressure - but his positional awareness is poorer, and his organisation of the defensive line not as good.
we have to think about what we need from our fullback based on the conditions and the opposition we are playing........ funnily enough I also reckon that Paul Anderson is better placed to make those decisions than someone sat in the stands. hes got us to the top of the table with 5 games to go - ill bow to his better judgement.'"
You said murphy played two games at full back last year and they both stood out.... what about grix this season you haven't brought them up how he has played well and stood out against wigan, saints, leeds etc...

| Quote: the stella kid "I think Murphy will make an excellent full back. Anyone who saw the Batley cup game will know that he kept us in the game with his great positioning and defence.
But now is not the time to change. Murphy has improved the wide defence massively this year.
Grix is an experienced full back. He has a lot of positives and even though he makes a few errors he needs to stay at full back for the rest of the season.'"
went unnoticed his game at full back versus batley, cleared up for us every time in a game we could of lost.

I said they both stood out. Once against bradford he stood out as being good in poor conditions,
and at widnes where he stood out as being simply shocking! - in fact could well have cost us the game with poor fullback play.

remember eden having a shocker on the wing that day and being subbed at half time too, bad day all round!
you seem to judge murphy on just two games at full back and write him off on the widnes performance.
if we looked at how many games grix has cost us over the last two seasons with his errors and missed tackles we would be here all week!
hopefully things will be different next season.

| Now is not the time to drop Grix. Personally I am not a fan of his but believe he should stay in the team for the rest of the season.
However I would like to see him replaced for next season. If that is by Murphy or a new player so be it.
I was impressed with Eden last night. If he continues to improve at this rate I would like to see him back for the season after next.
Paul Reilly is a legend. Played well in a poor team. It was his passion and love for the jersey that warmed him to the fans hearts though.

I'm writing him off precisely because he's played too few games in that position.
I write him off based on the fact that he is not a modern fullback. He has no passing or kicking game that would enable him to join the line- If grix is dropped we have no one to back up brough. I'm not saying he couldn't be a good fullback- just that he's not the TYPE of fullback we need Based on the rest of OUR squad. We all know grix can play better - in his first season at FB he was great- his poor performances could well be in part due to the poop spouted on here and other boards. Perhaps if less people got on his back for his mistakes and AS WELL applauded him for the good stuff he DOES do the grix of old could return.

| A modern full backs job is to organise his defence be positionally aware and be safe under the high ball. In attack there main job is as a support runner hitting the line at the right time to create or support a break.
Murphy I am sure could be very good at this but something to look at for next season.
A fullback is not there for a kicking or passing game and there is only Brett Hodgson in super league who provides this but he is very much the exception.

| But that's precisely the role grix is being asked to fulfil in our team!
