| There are lots of reasons why people don't come. More so that there is just so much more to do nowadays in the entertainment industry. When I was a kid (long time ago as I am 43 now) there was'nt half the stuff that kids have nowadays. Unless the Giants win anything I think we'll always have this problem. Money is tight and to be honest I think 24 quid is a lot for a game of RL. I know most clubs charge the same but its not cheap any more (although kids do go free). I do think that the HUDDERSFIELD public are very apathetic but you can't force people to attend. Do you reckon its a reason why RHP went back to the bulls?. Flogging a dead horse!?. I do. We should all be worried about low crowds because when Mr Davy is no longer at the club we could end up like Keighley for example in a lower division with lower crowds. The team are 2nd in the league and its truely embarrassing the support we get. Huddersfield Town fans since they moved to the JS Stadium think they are a big club all of a sudden. I used to watch them at Leeds Rd and loved it but went once to the JS and never returned. Just not for me and maybe thats how they feel about the Giants?.

| I went to the Brighouse Gala at the weekend and Halifax RL had a stand there, they had a number of recognised players handing out leaflets, talking to the public and having photos taken with kids. Whenever I walked past the players had stopped somebody and were chatting away. The point is when do we see Giants players at these kinds of events? And if we ever do, are they ever recognised first team players? If the players were to go out and be seen in public they could chat to those who are on the fence about games, show their enthusiasm for the Giants and drum up some support. Teenagers are perfect for this kind of media, especially girls! They speak to a muscly rugby player in a t-shirt and shorts for two minutes at a gala and they are in love and these kids can go to matches on their own, they don't need parents to take them.
Also I know the players go into junior schools for chats about health and nutrition (which I have been reliably informed are 'a bit boring') but surely they could be doing actual training sessions with these kids in schools, get the kids excited about rugby, the kids would then go home telling Mum and Dad all about it and hopefully talk them into attending a match.
Before I get any grief, no i haven't been to a match myself in just over a year as I had a baby last June and am expecting another one in a few months but i fully intend to take both of them to matches when they get big enough to sit in a chair on their own!

| why wait katy! both mine came to their first game when they were three weeks old, they got used to the noise and atmosphere early on and then would happily sit and watch as they got older. They are 7 and 9 now and still absolutely love it!

Now if you and Katy can have another 4000 kids between you that will stop threads like this appearing again.
Alternatively we could get the supporters club to run a
" Breed for the Giants " campaign

| Durham, the average age at the HGSA, would make breeding very difficuilt. However if you can provide some furtile young sport, l for one am prepared to give it a go, but knocking up 4000, might be a bridge too far.

I don't mind making a donation. Don't think the better half would appreciate me 'knocking up' 1 never mind 4000.

| Catalan regularly get over 10k don't they? Wasn't it outside Perpignan though? 7800 at the same fixture at craven park.

| Quote: TBC "There are lots of Town fans who as interested in the Giants but who will not attend matches for various reasons as you say. I get the same interest in pubs after games. The shares issue and how Ken 'treated' Town still prevents people attending as 'it puts money into Ken Davy's pocket'. There are 2 in my office and one in my lad's who will not attend for this one reason. One actually enjoys seeing the Giants lose as 'it wipes the smile off Ken Davy's face' - this is someone who can trace his Huddersfield family roots back over 300 years! These are entrenched views that I believe will not change. It's a shame that the man who has done so much for the club is the reason some people don't attend.
How many there are with this view is debatable and it's interesting that a fair few seem to be part of the 'lost generation' of fans who grew up when Fartown were lurching from one crisis to another whilst Town were in the midst of the Micky Buxton era when Town played some of their best ever football. These people will always be Town fans first and foremost. The Giants true future is with the kids who will not have this baggage and who need attracting at an early age as possible. The number of families / kids have grown significantly in recent years and its imperative to the future success of the Giants that trend continues.'"
What's the problem between Davy and town fans did not know they had a dispute.

Long story - to do with when Ken saved their club from extinction, part of the deal was that he got to buy their 40% shares in the stadium for £2 as thats all they were valued at at the time, Town fans have demanded that he gives them back now that the new owner/chairman has pumped money into the club he loves (but didnt want to know when Ken had to bail them out) and it basically turned into a hate campaign against him.

It's a long running dispute with a very long story.
Try this thread on a Town fans website, I have to warn you it's one of many and is 10 pages long - downatthemac.proboards.com/threa ... y-sheerman
The dispute must have been running a good few years now.

| Just out of curiosity I wonder how much it has cost Ken to bail out Town and the Giants without him there wouldn't be either football club or Rugby club.

| It currently costs ken 20k a week to keep the giants going. That's not including what he's spent on buying the club(s) and the new facilities at Lockwood.
