| Quote: Durham Giant "Trouble is there will be no half backs around to sign. Wigan and Hull have all being looking around have struggled to get one.
No more decent Aussies will be coming over so any half backs are going to be British based established players or upcoming and unproven youngsters.
If he was a possibility it could be run by the senior squad players as to whether they think it would be a good idea.
Brough maybe attracted by playing with his half back partner in potentially a winning World Cup year
Can not see a Brough/Chase partnership for England at this stage but there would be a chance if they showed at club level they work well together then never say never.
If the players were happy with it then thats half the battle.
There are always players around if needs must as was proven last season with Lunt, Ferres, Foster and Ellis moving mid season and all doing well where they went and there is some appeal in signing from a position of strength rather than a panic move and I guess the real issue is how much Chase and Cas have kissed and made up and how much each would want to make it happen.

| Don`t fancy chase.
He doesn`t know he is doing, never mind the rest of the team.
Not a team player.

Our current combination will not be enough in the big games towards the end of the season. Sad but true IMHO.

| Quote: espanyolswan "Do not think him and Broughy would gel to be honest (has never looked good for England playing with better quality players around him than at Cas).
Big risk that do not think we need to take at present and I'd sit tight for now and only go for a marquee signing if they are 100% right for us (think Chase may cause a few ripples in the changing room) or needs must due to injuries or loss of form.
Good player for sure....would he be good for us...not sure he would.'"
i agree its a big risk that we dont need to take... see how the season unfolds then if something pops up we can take advantage..for now no need to disrupt the team.
we were in for fages of salford pre season but dont think we would be able to entice him from salford now.
lets just hold tight.

| Journos on twitter saying that LOD has been granted a release to join roosters with full story to come.
Club have just gone from Heros to zeros in terms of telling us the truth about this debacle.

Chase is stuck at Cas anyway - he can't get a visa to play for anyone else.

| but the reality is that Luke is financially in a different place now to that envisaged when he joined at the start of the 2011season,” said Thewlis.
“The changing regulations in respect of off-shore pensions have caused him significant difficulties – as I am sure they must for other overseas players in the UK –
Regardless of him leaving from a playing point of view i do feel unhappy that the club entered into a financial arrangement which effectively works as a tax fiddle.
I know that it has happened a lot in football and judging by the quote above affects other Aussies over here but
I feel justifiably aggrieved that Amazon and Starbucks fiddle their taxes and the club were effectively doing the same to bring LOD over here.

| It's up to the club to stick to the rules and I'm not going to criticise them for looking at ways to legally minimise costs. The club loses a five figure sum every year that KD has to shell out and cover. Starbucks we ain't and morally there's a difference between minimising losses and avoiding paying taxes on huge profits on UK sales. And legally they've done nothing wrong. The loophole has closed and LOD wanted out. The club have been refreshingly forthright and open, which is what people keep saying they want, so should surely be applauded for it.
Good on them I say. It's a business and not one that makes a profit ATM, not a moral crusade. You cut your cloth accordingly.
