The thing going for us is Ken. Saints and Bradford may not be able to afford to pay what Ken might be prepared to pay. And hopefully Brown will be giving any potential candidate positive feedback about us. This is all of course if the club decide to go with Baloo, if he thinks he is ready. He may think 2 years under another top coach could be the final piece of his coaching apprenticeship instead.

latest on browns reasons for leaving..

His wife and three daughters are currently in Sydney after being stranded by the volcanic ash clouds that caused major disruption to European air travel and it was during a conversion on Skype with middle daughter Annie that Brown finally made up his mind.

“When I came over I planned on staying for three years but there are some things that have happened in the last three or four weeks which made me realise how far I’ve taken the kids away,” he told a press conference at the Galpharm Stadium.

“The kids are home and they’re going to the beach, and to the park and going on boats and they don’t get to do that here.

“They deserve to do that because that’s the lifestyle I had and it’s the lifestyle I want for them. They’ve given up two years of that for my coaching.

“One of my daughters said to me on Skype ‘daddy can you please move back to Australia because I want to live here.’ That summed up for me 100% what I needed to do.

“Generally, all the decisions that are made in my family are based around what I do for rugby league and this was made for what I think needs to done for my children.”

Brown, a former head coach at St George Illawarra, insists he has no job lined up in Australia’s NRL but admits a successful end to the season with Huddersfield would improve his prospects.

“At the moment, I’m jobless from October,” he said. “Hopefully, something comes up but I’ll have to wait and see.

“I definitely haven’t anything lined up and, regardless about what’s been speculated about, I haven’t spoken to anybody either.

“Hopefully the better we finish up, the better the chance of me getting something, I’d imagine.”

Huddersfield decided to announce Brown’s departure in the wake of their 60-4 hammering by Warrington Wolves in the Carnegie Challenge Cup last Saturday.

The coach is now hoping the relief he is feeling will spread to his players as they prepare to take on Engage Super League leaders Wigan Warriors at the Galpharm on Sunday.

“It’s been on my mind a fair bit over the last three weeks and there’s been a lot of stuff in the papers which is never good for any club but now it’s out of the way, we can get on with it,” he said.

“Getting it off my mind was a good thing. Now I’ve made the decision, I feel comfortable because I know it’s the right decision. Today has been the best day I’ve had for a couple of weeks.

“Losses like that probably build up over a period of time. They don’t happen overnight.

“It’s probably an accumulation of small things and, as a coach, I have to put my hand up. I could have been a bit harder on some people and there are some players that will probably but their hands up.

“There are a couple of areas where we took our eyes off the ball and as a group we let ourselves down a little bit. But the key is that we come out this week and put in a good performance.”

He seems very emotional about it all from reading that. I wouldn't be surprised if he asks to be released from his contract if it is that bad. He is so far away from wife & kids and it's going to be another 5-6 months before he is back home.
It's going to be very difficult not having your loved ones around!

Hey if someone said to me that I would not see the wife for 5 months I would be asking when can it start icon_lol.gif I can say suff like that as she does not read these baords icon_biggrin.gif

I think it's going to take more than that with the mood Fifi's been in lately. It's been worse than mine!
