| Quote: Durham Giant "
Have the Giants decided to go for Brough now rather than be in an auction for wages at the end of the season when Brough could go to Saints or HKR. Paying £50,000 transfer fee now rather than £150,000 on extra wages to secure his services at the end of the season may seem to be good buisness. This is the only logical argument for the move at present.
'"
I take you have never attended forums etc when the senior people at the club have stated they would not pay transfer fees for established players. And the ONLY logical argument is the one you cobble together
Try another. HKR /Morgan do not want to keep Cooke. Bringing Clinton in means they would be over the cap so need to move 'someone on'. Wakey get Cooke with HKR paying a large proportion of his wages. Wakey now move Brough on and make a net saving on salaries paid. If the Giant(s) moving to Trin are more than covered by newton's wage and a bit of brough money then Trin have 2/3 players and save some cash. If the Giants want Brough and if he is available then they would take a look at the options. I could give you other logical arguments but that wil do for now.

| I know Aspers had an offer made for him by a club and Brown said he wanted him to stay and fight for a start as I'm sure I read that somewhere. He is also OOC at the end of the season and his salary will be pretty good as he'd just extended his deal before his knee went. Horne is another one OOC at the end of the season and, to me, these are the sort of players we should be thinking of allowing to leave IF there is any deal in the offing.
I just think Brown and our board are too canny to let Kirmond go. I don't think Kirmond would want to go either.

| I also remember being at a meeting where Davy, Morgan and Thewlis were answering questions and it was stated that the days of paying fees for first teamers were over.

| Some of the wakey posters are beneath contempt. they are raking up Brough's private financial details! They are pitiful.
Also they question his 'off field activities' yet rejoice at signing Cooke (you couldn't make this up).
Finally they are claiming brough was poor versus the Giants because he was signing for us......what is the excuse for the other 16 who played(I hope to god we are not signing that lot )

Poor lil wakey fan. Pretenting there is some 'sizable' transfer cash. The Giants are not the Wolves. However wakey have had some problems paying their way. They even faced a humiliating winding up order. Looks more like a desperate attempt to cut their overall wage bill. '"
If the rumour does turn out to be true, taking into account what people on our board (who are worth listening to) are saying, then the general consensus is that we offered Brough a very decent amount.
Hardly the actions of a club desperate to cut a wage bill eh?

| Why would Wakefield want to save money on their wage bill? Newton's wage has already come off, Cooke's (if he signs) will be partly paid by KR.
Brough would only be allowed to leave if a transfer fee have been received or players have been offered in return. Also, how would Huddersfield fit Brough's wage under the salary cap if no players were to make way for his signature?

Why not. get somone to explain to you that the wages bill applies to the whole squad and not just Brough. HTH

Tell me you are kidding
This year Wakey faced a winding up order because they were not paying their taxes! A sizable amount. That was in a season when they finished 5th. Maybe that is one reason for wanting to cut the wages.
Many wakey supporters find it hard to believe that the Giants wil not pay transfer fees of any size. A switch of players would be more like it. The kirmond suggestion is laugable.

| I've just sold one of my kidneys to Sarsons and am giving the proceeds to Ken to get the wheelclamp for Broughy's caravan.
