Can't see the ref having much of an impact on the game. The game will obviously be played using "the English rules" so the PTB will be quicker by far anyway. Think that was the main issue we had with him after the WCC. We shall see. I just hope, like everyone else I would imagine, that he doesn't spoil what should be a really good game.

Just on the subject of advertising, there is none around the city centre. I come in every week day for Uni and was a little bit dissapointed by the fact there seems to be no mention of it. But it doesn't sound like a suprise to you lot, unfortunately!

If i was to marry, i dont know if i ought to, if i would, if i should , i'd marry a Prop's daughter, she'd go down, i'd go down, we'd all go down together, we'd be alright in the middle of the night going down together!!:icons42da_files/5417-2890lipst1ck_d0rk-msnicons.jpg

TBH I think something has been said about the number of penalties been given for holding down ect cos last week for example not many at all were given in any of the games.

I think the refs have been told to let the game flow a little more where possible from what I can tell. eusa_think.gif

so first off your wrong about the pen counts as you said all the games. quins gave away 12 pens 10 for holdng down.

second. Letting the game flow is only possible if teams don't hold down for too long! I think the refs have told teams push it and you get pinned.

quins got mullered for trying to slow Leeds down. I expect hudds to try and do the same. If hudds don't slow Leeds down I think it could be a long night for you lot. If you conceed 12 pens I can't see you winning.

A season where the refs want a quick ptb does not fit hudds style one bit. you faded away towards the end of last season when the ptb was the slowest it had been for some time. I predict the same again for you this season(a good cup run could again be your undoing)

If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.:3676.jpg

The biggest factor in our fading at the end of the season was injuries to key players, not refereeing.
The style that fits ALL sides the best is to slow down the opposition whilst getting a quick PTB yourselves and this is as much more to do with your own technique than the referee. In other words, it could be a tough night for you as well if you don't slow us down. It's a pretty obvious statement.
Our biggest problem with the bigger games in recent times has been a mental rather than a physical one but we are showing signs of overcoming this issue.

It is all set to be a real cracker and will hopefully end up being one.

I thought that internationals were supposed to be the best players playing the best game they can to show the world what a good game we have. These international rules (hold down for longer) do nothing to promote our game internationally - it just makes for a slower game with less flair and a lower scoring game

Well that depends, doesn't it. Who gets the quick ptb; us or the opposition? icon_biggrin.gif TBH, I think the same applies to any team because they should be looking to gain an advantage wherever they can. Leeds are quite nifty at slowing the ptb of the opposition themselves.

What planet are you on.

Every time I saw Leeds last season they spent the entire game holding down. Far more than the Giants. The Giants holding down debate was started by a number of inadequete coaches trying to explain why their teams were turned over by the Giants. Every team does it and Leeds and Sts were by far the worst last season.

It will be a long day for Leeds if they carry on with their prima donna attitude in questioning every refereeing decision that doesn't go their way

[And in these 'new days of fast ptbs' the Giants have ; won 3 of 5 ; narrowly lost the other 2 to Hull/Wolves and could have won them; nilled 2 decent teams and conceded 8 pts per game....so.....we are 'coping']

quins got mullered for trying to slow Leeds down.

[Quins got mullered because they have been cr*p all year]

Quote: GiantJo "Your comments about the end of our season show your ignorance of what happened at our club and your desperate need to bag us. Many Leeds posters are fair minded. They applaud a team that gets to a final and finishes 3rd. They are perhaps Leeds fans who have supported their club long enough to remember many years when they would have seen a cup final or a 3rd finish as a real achievement.

A few years ago when the Bulls dominated the game there were probably a few moronic Bulls posters on the Leeds thread arrogantly lecturing them on tactics - twas ever thus.'"

Oooo look at you? Your a bit touchy arnt ya? time of the month? untwisted ya knickers and take a deep breath. icon_smile.gif

Leeds are just as good with a quick ptb as slow. The best quality in the Leeds team is it's abaptability. I feel hudds rise is awesome, i love your coach he is as good as any in the comp if not the best. you have very good young players a older ones too. I just feel that when the pitches firm up you might find it tougher than last year. Hudds were just as good as Leeds and saints at the ruck last season, you are very skilled in this area but you could well end up on the end of some heavy pen counts which makes it very tough to win. managing the league and cup games and the injuries that come with extra fixtures is one of the hardest things about making the step up to the big boys. even the best teams have struggled with this.

no doubt hudds are a good team, it will be a great game that can go either way. I just feel if both teams play their best Leeds always win. if Leeds are not at their best and hudds play well, it could be your day. Leeds need to be at their best no doubt.
