Quote: Marsdengiant "Yes really.

Having seen him play a few times and seen the things he is capable of I think Brown will help him to develop and utilse his skills. we have seen ball players with good base skills like Moore /Lunt /Brown come on leaps and bounds under NB.

Clearly in the mass exodus of your 1st teamers he is one you are happy to see go...so be it.'"

No, would quite like to keep him, but as a squad player that can cover a few positions. If it was the choice of having him at 6 for the full year or losing him then yes, happy to see him go.

Time will tell l suppose!

Quote: Code13 "Watching the highlights last night, and I think there were a lot of culprits for wayward passing, Robbo shouldnt be singled out.

More importantly, how long was Crabtree stood waiting to offload when he broke through close to their line?

Any longer he would have had pidgeons sat on his head but no support whatsoever.'"

Simon Finnigan was on his shoulder waiting for him to pop a pass out. The support play was there but he just wasn't aware of it.

Robinson = most overrated player in super league. I never really liked brown either, but he must have something, cos huddersfield look nowhere near the same team without him.

......but if you insist .................a group of fans voting on a 3-2-1` for each match have come up with the following :-

22 L.Robinson
16 B.Hodgson
15 S.Moore
14 K.Mason
12 E.Crabtree
12 D.Kirmond
11 A.Raleigh
9 D.Faiumu
9 S.Lunt
8 L.Cudjoe
8 L.Fulton
7 K.Brown
5 D.Hodgson
4 S.Wild
3 P.Whatuira
3 D.Sculthorpe

Not saying all will agree - but to pillory the lad wont do much good !

After all the club signed him to do the job and looking at the above - he cant be TOO badly, can he??

His trouble might just be he tries TOO hard -- but if others around dont -- is that really something to criticise
Like the initial comment -- some shouldnt carry knives!
Too quick to apportion blame I say! Get off his back - wont do any good -- he might try harder still! icon_wink.gif

So who has pilloried Robinson?

He has a very weak short kicking game. His kicking to touch is poor and his long kicking game is non existent. He is very poor passing left to right - so much so that sometimes he appears blind to players on his left hand side when a break is made. If dozens of posters want to score him 3 that does not change his kicking game one jot. And a scoring system that rates him higher than Brett Hodgson is ridiculous.

He is not a top of SL scrum half. We will see what Nathan thinks when the contract is up for renewal.

In key games in 2010 I would have Drewy ahead of him every time.

If you have some rugby points about Robbo's game then let's hear them. The talk about knives is pointless.

Pretty much Ivor

And given those 321 numbers seems none of us have seen it before...

Marsden, will you apply the same critical eye to Bret Hosgson?

Strangely i find myself agreeing with Marsden on this one. Is that a first icon_confused.gif:

Robbo is not the most creative SH and does have a limited kicking game.

He has his strengths particularly running , backing up, making breaks. On that basis i understand that Brown is looking at playing him as hooker.

If that is the case then it would seem his strengths are going to be built upon and emphasised in the teams selection and tactics next year.

Despite this Robbo does have his strengths at SH but needs other players around him to bring that out. With brown doing the organising and the forwards winning the battle up front Robbo looked good.

If those players around him are doing badly his limitations are exposed.

What he does have in buckets is wanting to try his hardest, that often forces him to do too much when he is trying to make up for the teams defecits. That same criticism however is true of Brett.

At the end of the day he gives 100%. Whether he is limited in certain areas i can usually overlook when i see someone giving 100%. It is alck of trying i cannot accept.

I have pointed out deficiencies in Robbo's game as a S/H. That is not the same as ridiculing him (pillory). Believe what you need to believe.

What people see or fail to see with their 3-2-1 numbers is not my concern. If you want to go with the scores and conclude Robbo is the best player in the club by some margin ..go ahead.

Happy to comment on B. Hodgson. It has been a privelege to watch him play this year. He has a fantastic skill set and his reading of the game is exceptional. We would not have had the season we have had without him. His team mates recognise his outstanding contribution, leading coaches refer to it and a coach i rate above any 3-2-1scorers, Nathan brown, has regularly highlighted what BH does.

Put BH in any SL team and he improves it. for several clubs the same could not be said of Robbo. If you think otherwise, fine.

With or without your blessing or permission they have !! In a democratic world where people have a choice - it would appear that a high percentage of those who regularly bothered to register their vote for a man of the match hold the opinion that despite his weak points (that you so eloquently point out) he has performed reasonably well, and consistently when compared with his team mates .

If the fact that I point this out in response to your request that I post on the topic is "not your concern" , then you should readily understand why I have no concern either that you believe your opinion undisputable. your insatiable desire to single out one player for criticism justifiable , and that a substantial number of keen regular failthful (and -in your opinion it seems- misguided) fans are only on here to read , learn and bow to your infinite wisdom.

can we all stay on topic and leave out the stuff criticising others opinions.

Comments were made about Robbos limited skills which i happen to agree with .

the fact that he has won MOM by the fans still does not alter that fact. His best game for us this season was probably Wakefield away where he rightly got MOM from everyone. As i remember that was mainly based on his second half performance where he ripped Wakey to shreds.

Most of that however was when he ran from dummy half playing in a hooker type role rather than as a SH.

There are actually very few GREAT halfbacks in SL and most teams have to play good players who have some deficiencies.

If you look at the GREAT half backs i would day people like Thurston and Lockyer fall into that category eg someone who has an all around game, kicking, tactics, running sedtting up plays and the X factor.

In Britain we have no one who comes close probably the best is long but i think he is on his way out. Brough may hav ethe ability but needs to be in a top teram or international to see it. Myler and tompkins may get there.

Players like Pryce and Mc Guire are good but neither are international or top drawer players. Outside oif their dominating clubs they are not that special.

Robbo is the same when we are playing well he can dominate a game and play really well. when we are up against a top quality defensive team where his space is cut down his limitations come out. That makes him no different though to many other players we have
