Inspiring and motivating I'm in total agreement with its the apparent lack of it at the club I disagree with, its a pity the team didn't have the fans inspiration yesterday cos where I was it was huge to back their team to win !!

| Just a thought if any of you guys drop a clanger or two at work would you expect them to sack your manager?

As for me one part is thinking we should give him the chance to improve things( after all his record isn't exactly one of failure) on the other hand maybe a fresh approach is needed but if we are to replace him it has to be someone of a higher calibre than what we have already otherwise it's pointless- we may as well just carry on as we are rather than change for changes sake.
We can't be making knee jerk decisions as a club based on 1/3 of a bad season if we don't actually improve after it !!! There is no guarantee sacking Paul will bring improvements so let's be careful what we do and wish for !!'"
What is classed as a higher calibre though? John Kear, van de velde, mal reilly all "high calibre" at the time - but yet couldn't inspire the team to win! Bearing in mind that's something that kear was and is well noted for! ferres and murphy both sacked after being moderately successful and the club declined following both those sackings (although ok one was down to the receivers!) - so yes - be careful what we wish for!

| Very true Jools ...it could backfire either way really ...my point was its no good sacking Anderson then bringing in someone who the fans will then moan is 'not big enough' or 'we should have gone for xyz'.
Like you say we've had big name coaches in the past and we have not improved under them.

But we are not the Coach of a Rugby League team where results matter. Why do other sports Clubs demand good results or you are Sacked. Are we just an old Boys social Club ??

The trouble is that 1/3rd of a bad season finishes your top 4 hopes and potentially moves you into a relegation fight with the new 23 game season now the league splits.
At the risk of sounding defeatist but not with that intent is it then fair to keep him say 3/4 more games where unless there is a major shift we are likely to lose heavily and remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Calls for his head will get louder so should we then not wait for the easier games Salford, Wakefield, Widnes, Castleford Hull KR and Leeds to give him a fair chance to turn it around ?
Mmmm well we've just lost the first round of those games where I fully expected to be moving up the league and be on 6pts or 8 pts.
It's not an easy call at all but hey ho let's see what Hull brings as a 40pt/50pt drubbing will test the resolve of the staunchest supporter especially sat in the new away supporters bit and listening to the likely to be crowing Hull fans.

And your definition of success is what.
We are going backwards whether that is Andersons fault or not none of us know unfortunately. But if recruitment and retention is out of his hands and that is the chief execs decisions the role of the coach is to work with what we have got.
Anderson cannot motivate the players that he has got now. So the only option is to try something or someone else.
When Anderson got the job it was quoted by the CLUB that there were a lot of high calibre coaches who were available both here and in OZ.
I have no doubt that there are a lot of assistant coaches in the NRL or toyota cup who would jump at the chance to come over here and build a reputation..
It worked for Smith who improved us before jumping ship and with Brown initially.
There are what 36 coaches positions in the world of RL at a decent level. When you look at Australia there have to be more than 36 potential coaches.
If you dont look then you will not find

If yo are failing then that is an option.
I work in Local Authority's who failed OFSTED inspections in Child Protection. . So i work where things are really bad. As a manager my job is to help improve things. Every where i have worked i have led to improvements in the areas that i can control.
What you cannot do and what all of these Local Authorities have in common is that they knew things were not going well but did nothing.
Inertia is as dangerous as doing things badly.
You have to take steps to improve things. If the manager is not improving things that they can control then after a period of time they have to go.
1 win in the last 12 is a failure.
Intertia will guarantee more failure.

Well put, I could not agree more. Whoever is in charge of recruitment should be held responsible and should be sacked. Who is it ?? Stand up .

This is common knowledge but the squad is the coaches and McGillivery, Cudjoe, Crabtree and Rapira are or were full internationals.
Brough is probably the best English half back over the last three years. Hinchcliffe played 13 at a top NRL club and Huby was on the verge of an international call toO.
On paper we can field a competitive 17 with the spine of the team that finished 3rd last year.
Sorry I didn't expect top 4 this years squad was always too shallow but bottom with that squad one win from nine??? don't give me the guff that the coach and coaching team are blameless like all teams/ business's the coaches/directors put a performance plan in place in line with the annual budget.
Anderson has rattled on relentlessly about top 4 and Grand Finals so if that wasn't the objective what was because Anderson bases his credibility on telling it as it is !!
Someone's got I wrong probably several someone's !!

yes alot of fans do think its thewlis that needs to get the chop.
as for anderson, he still can turn it round and right now as fans we need to get behind the lads as they are low on confidence at the moment instead of bickering and spreading rumours
we know we have the players to win games!

The players were more than backed by us fans yesterday for 80 minutes and this is a forum for debate and airing our views both good and bad.
Don't lay this on the fans look at the reaction by Warrington fans if they drop off or when we beat them last year that wasn't how it was yesterday the team were supported to the bitter end and I am surprised by your comment if you were there !!
