| 24-12 at the moment according to facebook. Shaun Lunt in 1st half followed by a double from Cudjoe and then Wardle, all converted by Brough.

| Bit of a poor start today 12-0 down, didnt have the ball the first 20mins! poor discipline again.
second half alot better! widnes were trying to slow the ball down at every play.
lunt got man of the match today with a hat trick, def won the battle of the hookers with faiumu.
mcgillvary was my man of the match behind lunt, great to see a 100% fit jerry again.
some of the forwards showed up well...mullally, kopzchak. fielden did 30mins and produced a few strong runs.
great run from ferguson for one of our tries...he needed it though as wasnt too impressive rest of the time. cording did his job when lawrence had to go off injured.
doesnt look good fro lawrence?
good to see fairbank too.
1183 attendance, poor, cant complain if we dont get a home pre season game next season

| Widnes Vikings fall to friendly defeat at Huddersfield Giants
Jan 20 2013 by Merseyside Sport, Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News
Huddersfield 36 Widnes 12 by Daniel McKenzie A SECOND half collapse saw Widnes surrender a 12-0 lead to Huddersfield Giants in their final pre-season game on Sunday.Despite heavy snow and freezing conditions in west Yorkshire the game went ahead largely thanks to the under-soil heating at the John Smith’s Stadium. And Widnes took to the difficult conditions quicker than the hosts, bursting into a well-deserved lead thanks to tries by youngsters Joe Mellor and Danny Craven. But they were ultimately outdone by Hudderfield’s superior pace and power after the break and failed to add to their points tally. The Vikings started the match on the front foot and an early grubber kick by Mellor forced a drop-out.Denis Betts’ men were unable to capitalise on the repeat set but were solid in defence to keep good field position. And in the eighth minute Widnes were rewarded for their early pressure. On the last tackle Danny Craven’s deft kick from dummy half caught the Giants by surprise and he darted through to capitalise, touching down wide on the left. The 21-year-old then landed the conversion from a difficult angle.Four minutes later the Vikings doubled their lead. This time Joe Mellor burst onto Jon Clarke’s bullet pass to jink his way under the sticks.Hanbury added the extras to make it 12-0 to the visitors.Craven had arguably been the Vikings star performer in the two previous pre-season encounters and he was in good form again, causing Huddersfield problems with his in-play kicking game and making sure the home side were starting their sets from deep. And it wasn’t until the 15th minute that the Giants had a spell of meaningful possession in the Widnes half. But as Widnes conceded two cheap penalties the home side took full advantage, with Eorl Crabtree’s barnstorming run doing the damage before Shaun Lunt scooted under the sticks from the resulting play-the-ball.Danny Brough made no mistake with the boot to halve the Vikings’ lead at the midway point of the half. There was little to separate the sides before the break, but the Giants went closest just after the half hour mark when Luke George looked certain to score in the left corner but for an outstanding last-ditch tackle by Paddy Flynn sent the winger into touch.Former Viking Anthony Mullally was given a frosty reception by the travelling Widnes fans when he was brought on for the Giants five minutes into the second half. But he had an instant impact as Huddersfield went in for three quick-fire tries to take the lead for the first time.Leroy Cudjoe scored the first two after breaks down the right by Furguson and McGillvary respectively. Then Joe Wardle completed the turnaround as he made the most of a Widnes error, sprinting 60m with the ball in hand to score on the left.Brough maintained his 100% record with the boot to make it 24-12 to Huddersfield on the hour mark.Rhys Hanbury, again operating from full-back in the absence of Shaun Briscoe, went close to pegging the scores back but was stopped just short of the line after a trademark run.And when Lunt added his second, again from dummy half, five minutes later there was no way back for Widnes.Lunt then took advantage of some sloppy defence with a break up the middle to complete his hat-trick and with Brough’s sixth successful conversion it was 36-12 to the hosts at the final hooter

| Cold, day and a cold start from the lads. Our notorious slow starts continue!
Lunt best player on the park, then Leroy. Bruno's injury didn't look too good. Calf or achilles and from the way he was he looks like he's out for the opener. Wardle took his try well but then also looked to take a bang to an ankle. Nothing like Bruno's though.
Cross is a complete tit and it was funny to see Ferres shoving him when he didn't expect it. When he raised his fist later on as well, complete idiot. Thick as two short planks.

| Thought last 60 mins looked ok.
Lunt excellent behind a strong pack - thiink all props did well - mullaly, fielden and kopcaz is quality. Think that may be the pattern of many of our games were we eventually grind opponents down.
Bobby looked strong too - and ferres impressed me.

| Kopczak reminds me of Jackson except he is better. He is an all rounder and without doing anything really spectacular he equally doesn't make any big mistakes either. He is just consistent and solid. He will be a good aquisition I think.
Mullally made some strong runs and will be pushing for a spot. A big unit; the new Monster maybe!

| Bruno damage to his ankle ligaments- he'd pulled a hamstring in training but played in spite- could that have had a bearing on this injury? Will have to hope LOD is ready to play.
Lunt was creative and completed his tries really well- but as a team we looked very poor early on and I personally thought the turn round came when fooey came on- he was much quicker around the ruck , when he came on the quickened pace resulted in tries. The two styles are a complement though.
Leroy and jerry looked good. Wardle had a great defensive game and ran strong but his handling was poor and needs work. George needs to bend his back- he could have and should have scored by diving for the line- Dawson will be looking over his shoulder.
brough and robbo did ok but not particularly creative- we had a decent run out, need to work on a few moves and will need to improve.

| From what I saw today, it's going to be a long hard season. If we play against St Helens like we played today, I'm afraid they will have a field day. We showed no creativity at half back and there was generally a lack of enthusiasm all round.

| Second half was a lot better but there were a lot of worrying signs. First 25 mins the line speed was very poor. Wardle and George looked like they had never played together before as George managed to over run at least three passes. I thought Mcgillivary looked suspect in defence. Faiumu's distribution was woeful every second pass was forward. Most worringly the halves lacked organising skills. Unless we sign a half and move Robbo back to hooker to interchange with Lunt then mid table will be the best we can hope for. Plus points were Cudjoe,Grix,Lunt, and the props after the first twenty minutes. Discipline was also much better today.
