Quote: Baron Greenback "If I give you a pound will you tell me what they said? In the interests of being "totally honest and open"

I've posted on here in the past the gist of what has been said but it is usually dismissed or challenged by folk who (think they) know better so i stopped bothering, may as well have them as our guests as they seem to know the club and the RL world a lot better.

And if a guest hasn't asked specifically for what they've told us not to be banded around then i'll happily say something as do other people who were present.

A lot of the times stuff said is either personal thoughts or stuff from within the club that probably isn't for general listening as it were and obviously as an association it's not really fair for our member to go and get the guest 'into trouble' by saying "he said, she said" when they've requested it not to be.

In a nutshell the coaching side of the club acknowledge there have been issues/problems stemming from previous regimes and the way they chose to do things. This is something that has been pinpointed and is been worked on and it will take time to get things how the current team want it...be that training regimes, strength and conditioning, players attitudes and what they were allowed to get away with compared to what the new team want from them, structures within the game plan etc
One thing that has been stressed is that there isn't a 'bad egg' among them like some have suggested but more a case of certain people not doing enough, which again is hoping to be eradicated.
The players have reacted well to Rick and his team and are 'towing the line' in regards to his instructions.
Without naming individuals and what has been said about or by them, i and others who have heard from people within the club i'm sure have the utmost confidence that things will be different.
Rick needs time to stamp his mark on the club and mend it ...and that requires everyone else, the board, the players, the other members of the backroom team and of course the supporters to trust him with what he wants to do and be patient.
There is a lot to change and it won't happen overnight.

As i've said it isn't just for HGSA members ears but this is what we do - we provide speakers for our meetings, to entertain our members. We're not journalists trying to grab the latest rumour or big gossip story for all and sundry.

I realise not everyone lives in Huddersfield, and for those we can try and highlight what has been said in our Examiner column and brief on here, but a lot do and there is nothing stopping them becoming members and coming along themselves to hear what gets said. We have to respect the clubs and the individuals wishes at times.

Great post Daz.
You've explained that very well.
Hopefully the supporters will get behind the club and embrace what Rick Stone is trying to do.

Sorry , that was not meant as a criticism, My point was that there has been endless years of settling for survival and less.
It is not only the club and players that need to lift their sights , "after our close brush with possible oblivion".
We have to shake off this attitude of ,We are punching above our weight.

You say Top 8 would be a vast improvement on this season, That's obviously very true, Finishing 11th would be an improvement, A place in the Grand final would be even vaster. We start with a clean sheet and spend the same as the rest , Let's get rid of this " we know our place attitude ".

Huddersfield Giants - "We know our place":

I totally agree.

My view is that Top 8 is the minimum requirement for the season.

Top 4 is where we should expect to be. Winning the whole damn thing should be the aim and something that is achieved at least every five or so years.

And I'll state again, that the real problems at the club are off the field. The executive team that has failed to grow the club significantly in a decade needs replacing. This isn't the fault of the players or the coaches.

Couldn't agree more, but you know as well as me that saying stuff like this just brings out the spin doctors, and the one's who claim you are not a true fan for having such thoughts. It does IMO opinion account for the " we can't expect attitude ".

The most baffling thing to me is, why is it allowed to go on.

My view is this - if you don't want what you say 'getting out'; don't say it. If you believe that you can say it in a small forum like an HGSA meeting and it won't get out, you are tacitly admitting that you're a small club. If you were a big club with all eyes on you, you wouldn't risk saying anything in any public forum that you didn't want to become public knowledge. I'm not too fussed either way to be honest, my expectations of the club have dipped and I don't see any sigbificBt change happening until, like Steve says, changes are made at C level.

Without wanting to abuse or insult people again, can i ask, to those who say the problems lie off the field rather than on them, in your opinions what exactly is the problem, i've yet to see anyone actually give a reason other than certain people aren't doing their jobs properly.
I am intrigued as to what people think is the main off field problem, without resorting to slagging certain people off please, i don't care about people's personal opinion on the Chairman, CEO, directors etc just what you think the problem is.

As for the HGSA, then it is open to anyone, not a select few, there are no secret meetings taking place, no conspiracy going on, just decent people giving their opinions on things and answering questions from supporters as honestly and diplomatically as they can, given their roles within the club.

What better reason is there than 'someone is not doing their job properly'?

And I beg to differ; a meeting where people are asked not to discuss certain items outside the meeting is by definition a secret meeting!

It's not secret! anyone can come and hear what the guys have to say, it's just understandable that they don't want everything out there in the public domain as some of it is, personal and off the record stuff, nothing secretive at all.
