| Quote Ginger_Giant="Ginger_Giant"I'm happy with Brough and Robinson as our half back pairing, as the season goes on, they will only improve. The problem will come if we start to see injuries, in this respect it might be worth looking at a utility half back that can play hooker or scrum half or possibly an out and out stand-off (though rare as rocking horse....). As injuries to Robinson, Brough or Lunt and we will start to struggle for cover. Faiumu can play well at hooker, though there is not a cat in hells chance of him doing 80 minutes there.
Back on topic though, it's a shame to see Luke O'donnell leaving, but his injuries have cost us and if we can get some compensation for him along with freeing up salary cap and an over-seas quota spot; I say go for it. This now leaves an opportunity for Fairbank to come back into the squad, which I would really like to see as he impressed last season and put in some big hits in the friendly against Widnes.'"
think fairbank will return to the fold soon enough but behind cording and taai now in andersons mind... ferguson as well if he impresses at hull kr

After he has served his upcoming ban somewhere between 4 to 6 games ( well he should get at least that after his tackle on Hardaker) i think Cas might decide to get rid.

Do not think him and Broughy would gel to be honest (has never looked good for England playing with better quality players around him than at Cas).
Big risk that do not think we need to take at present and I'd sit tight for now and only go for a marquee signing if they are 100% right for us (think Chase may cause a few ripples in the changing room) or needs must due to injuries or loss of form.
Good player for sure....would he be good for us...not sure he would.

Trouble is there will be no half backs around to sign. Wigan and Hull have all being looking around have struggled to get one.
No more decent Aussies will be coming over so any half backs are going to be British based established players or upcoming and unproven youngsters.
If he was a possibility it could be run by the senior squad players as to whether they think it would be a good idea.
Brough maybe attracted by playing with his half back partner in potentially a winning World Cup year
I still think Gaskell could be a good player. In a good team and feeling he has the confidence of his coaches he may prove to be a good signing. He was pushed out at Saints last year and i am not convinced that he has won over the saints fans ( although if Hohaia has bad injury probably no chance this year).

Can not see a Brough/Chase partnership for England at this stage but there would be a chance if they showed at club level they work well together then never say never.
If the players were happy with it then thats half the battle.
There are always players around if needs must as was proven last season with Lunt, Ferres, Foster and Ellis moving mid season and all doing well where they went and there is some appeal in signing from a position of strength rather than a panic move and I guess the real issue is how much Chase and Cas have kissed and made up and how much each would want to make it happen.

Our current combination will not be enough in the big games towards the end of the season. Sad but true IMHO.

i agree its a big risk that we dont need to take... see how the season unfolds then if something pops up we can take advantage..for now no need to disrupt the team.
we were in for fages of salford pre season but dont think we would be able to entice him from salford now.
lets just hold tight.
