he couldn't have carried it in two hand as he needed his left to fend off the incoming saints player, plus if he had passed it from two hands he would have had to turn his body to get the ball to Bruno....the fact he threw it behind himself at pace and out of the back hand was IMO remarkable skill.

If he had held it in two hands and advertised the possibility of the pass he would not have drwn the cover defence to him . Because it did not look as if he would pass Wellens got drawn towards him as well as the winger '/? centre who was getting back. By playing the way he did he drew the cover which allowed Lawrence a clear run to the line.


Despite that if the pass had gone to ground or being dropped we would all be on here slagging him off to high heaven.

The good thing is that it showed confidence and and acceptance that free expression is being given to the players to play as they feel happy with.

The best thing is it shows he has got more sense than to read some of the drivel posted on Internet forums...

Cudjoe pass was special. Very special. Would we be slagging him off if it had not come off - not me. The best thing about it was it shows his confidence is coming back. Top teams need someone who can do something different and unpredictable . That is leroy. In a tight important game that really matters he will do something that will make history for the giants.
I am sure of that, and sure that all successful teams have one of these type of players. However the price of having them is sometimes when they try the audacious, the crazy, their magic won't come off. Our job as true supporters is to support them ( the clue is in the title) when it does not happen, so they are willing to keep trying it again and again . Looking for dull conservtivism from leroy week after week will only stifle him, and ultimately us.
In years to come we will still be talking about that pass.....

As a HKR fan I love watching your youngsters. I remember three (I think) seasons ago coming over to yours and Lawrence and Cudjoe tearing us to pieces. Lawrence got most of the plaudits that day but it was Cudjoe that I really liked the look of.

Add in MacGilvary and now Wardle and you're going from strength to strength! Fantastic to see, other than when you're giving us our twice yearly humping of course!

also, the reaction of Bruno and Leroy after the try is scored is one of almost sheer disbelieve, almost laughing at the fact it came off - obviously they were as surprised as everyone else that it did !

Well, those that would like the forward pass rule to be only in relation to the pitch and not the players should feast their eyes on this. Conclusive evidence that Leroy Cudjoe's out-the-back-door pass (you can't get any more a backwards pass than that!) was actually forward in relation to the pitch:

So, those that would like a "simpler" rule are basically saying that players can't pass when they're running! The most backwards of passes in relation to a player you can do still went forward in relation to the pitch. What a boring game some people must want in order for life to be "simple".

Conclusive evidence that Cudjoe's pass should have been classed as forward to those that want the "simpler" rule.

In reality, the laws of the game rightly recognise that the ball will travel forwards when a player passes at speed (but wrongly recognises that it is due to "momentum", which is technically not correct. It's due to a player's constant velocity when he passes, not his momentum).
