| Eorl Crabtree and Danny Kirmond ( in his 1st spell) you two can leave with dignity as you were the only ones (in my opinion) who actually looked slightly interested yesterday !!
Absolutely awful performance by our guys it looked like they were on strike today - not taking anything away from Salford who battered us on the day - they didnt need to be good today but they did the basics and our guys werent interested in giving them a game, we didnt even deserve to get 4 points today.
Salford had 17 men (&boys) out there who put in 79 minutes of top quality professional rugby league and our guys didnt know or couldnt be bothered to respond to them
We didnt make Salford drop the ball or make any mistakes because we couldnt be bothered putting the effort in.
few points:
1) how come when were attacking we never change the direction of play, we throw the ball either left or right for the whole set?
2) Although a decent Centre Kev Brown will never ever be a creative half back in Super League.
3)why is Cudjoe playing like Thorman at full back ie doing a little shimmy and skip when he gets to the defensive line instead of just running?
4) do our coaches teach our half backs how to create things because i cant remember the last time i watched a game on commented on some great half back play?
5) most importantly, why is a team that were wiping the floor with teams a couple of months ago playing so badly - is it laziness thats crept in to the players thinking they did enough in the 1st half of the season ?.

| Observations from myself here.
I was going ballistic as they would kick upfield and Leroy would take the ball and the first drive, then the second one was Aspinwall amd the 3rd drive was David Hodgson.Where were our second rowers (or second hookers as I called them).
I have a theory about what has happened and this is it.
Away Games this Year:
Castleford Friendly
Catalans
Bulls
Castleford (League)
Wigan
Harlequins (C Cup)
Hull KR
Warrington
8 games - won 7 lost 1
Home Games this year:
Wigan (Friendly)
St Helens
Hull
Harlequins
Celtic
Leeds
Rochdale (C Cup)
Salford
8 games - won 1 easily, won 2 not convincingly, lost 5
Magic Weekend:
Celtic
Won not convincingly
I would rather watch them away than at home. Its a sad fact but we have been dreadful at home and we must sort it out for the next 2 home games (Cas in Cup and Hull KR) or we are in bother.

you wasn't the only one spotting this yesterday.
On one return hodgy picked the ball up and took the 1st tackle, Aspi the 2nd and hodgy the third.
What happened to Korki? played 10 mins and rested for another 65 only to come on once we'd lost?

This has been the case all season - Hodgson and Aspy get nowhere and it's clear when they go into d/h that they are going to scoot. It's easy for the defence to deal with as they know what's happening. I can understand it for the second tackle after a kick return because the hooker and big guys are not back, but to do it repeatedly on tackle three is rubbish. I remember watching at Warrington, for example, and time after time it took until tackle four for a big guy to have a hit up.

| TBF its a tactic for your wingers to take a run or a scoot from dummy half after a kick return, saving the workload of your forwards. reckoning being your wingers should be near the ball (or near abouts), giving your forwards time to get back/ breather after the kick from defending up field making your attacking set start quicker and hopefully catch the defense not set with quick PTB's. Imo it was the slow and unsure ball return from Leroy that gave salford plenty time so set their defensive line for the next set of six giving us no chance of creating any attacking options.

the reason is simple to give him the opportunity to step off either the left or right foot and so change direction to make a break.
The shimmy and the skip is not a problem it is the execution.
Most Full backs do either
a a shimmy and make a break
b run it straight and hard.
If Leroy cannot make a break i suggest he goes for option b

Read through the previous comments because I didn't want to repeat what had already been said but you have picked up on this and so has Wadski. It happens all the time. Perhaps it's the only time the wingers can get hold of the ball because we don't spread it about enough do we? It's almost as frustrating as Brett passing the ball in front of our own posts.

| Come on folks. Don't turn Leroy into resurrected Thorman.
His positional play was excellent.
He caught every high ball.
He didn't miss a tackle.
He joined in the attack.
He ran out from defence in EXACTLY the same manner as Brett.
Yes, he does need more of the Paul Reilly in him, but don't slag him when he was one of the few who did his job.

I'm not slagging him at all i think he his a fantastic prospect, i was just stating that in the past i have seen him pick the ball up and run and make some good yards - he didnt seem to be doing that on Sunday which meant that their defensive line was up on our attack and putting pressure on 10-15 yards from our own line rather than 25-30 to give us more of a chance of gaining better position etc

Fair enough. But I wasn't particularly having a dig at you. It is the posters who say he is not a SL player. All I'm asking is what do they want from him? Yes, he can be hesitant, but he wasn't on Sunday. Yes, he does need to run harder. But before the start of last season, how many people had ever heard of him?
He's young, he's learning from one of the best. Let's not demoralise him to the point of losing him.

| Spot on Ivor
Cudjoe is a great player, and will get better. Some people just want to see fault no matter what.

| He's still learning and he still made 200m+ so he must have gained some yards in defence.
He's not Paul Reilly, he's not going to run at the line from every kick return like it's his last run on Earth. He's Leroy, he's only 21/22 and he's not had much game time at FB in SL this season.

| Correct he's no Paul Reilly. As much as we loved the guy, his positional sense for kicks on thel ast tackle weren't a patch on Brett or even Leroy. Think Cudjoe has picked up some good tips from Brett already regarding reading where the ball is going to be kicked. Many a time we saw reilly turned round to fetch the ball and dicing with death near the dead ball line. Neither Brett nor Leroy though ran it out like Paul.

| No one on earth ran it out like paul, simple as that, but then again no one on earth had to
I'd rather Leroy catch the ball on the full and have more time and space instead of having the cover on him and having to batter a hole in the line.
