Sanctions? Oh please. If that's the case, why were these "sanctions" not brought against him in 2011 when he did the same thing?
It's a non-story. If the RFL paid £5K to each of the semi finalists for a "high profile presence" at the event, why wasn't Tomkins there representing Wigan? Why wasn't the golden boot winner "Sir" (sic) Kevin Sinfield there representing Leeds? Why wasn't Sky's love interest Danny Brough there representing Huddersfield?
Our club captain was there, the only Englishman to win Grand Finals in both England and Australia. That should be high profile enough for the RFL.

So if we lose that's because we everything against Hull FC? Garbage.
The result will depend on various factors. Christ, depending on which thread you're on Hull FC were beneath Pennine league level and a youth team would have beaten them.
I'd like to thank all the Huddersfield trolls out there for helping create what we are seeing here. The worst part is that many of them don't even realise they are trolls.

It's a close game Thursday that both teams will want to win. My opinion is that we can win but I would bring Faiumu back for Kyle Wood as we need a stronger bench and Lunt will need to do 50/60 minutes but Faiumu can do two roles of 20 mins and fill in more roles if needed.
I think we will turn up Thursday and go close just need to muscle up in the pack and get in Briers face stop his short kicking game which Leeds didn't.
As for blowing out against Hull no way should have done us good !!

| Blimey calm down you lot. We had to choose somebody. I'm sure if Saints were in the same position, they would have picked us.
FWIW I class you as 2013 champions.

| don't see any problem with this at all, we have been chosen by warrington because they believe, and with reason, that they can beat us at the HJ.
we have to go to warrington on Thursday and show them that they made a mistake in picking us.
no problem at all with it, we all knew warrington would pick us it was a no brainer.
lets go and do the business on Thursday now!

| The funny thing about all this is smith coming across as acting like a spoilt brat because he thinks the clubcall is a gimmick- yet the way he has dealt with it has actually justified RFL inclusion of clubcall- if hed have tossed a coin live on tv or said well we will go for the lowest placed team like everyone else it would have made it seem a bit pointless.

| I think people have just gotten the wrong end of the stick with regards the comments from Hemmings. He asked a specific question about a teleconference on Saturday afternoon that didn't happen. Wire people will have met up and discussed, there is no doubt about it, just not under those very specific circumstances Hemmings referred to. It's a non-story, it really is.
You think Smith isn't taking us seriously? Anyone? Come on. He doesn't post as NickyKiss on here you know.

| So the RFL gave us £5000 to attend and £5000 for hosting the event (a room with some chairs in), and they're talking about fining us £10,000....I'm no mathematician, but I don't think we'll be too far out of pocket there.....

| All this conjecture is for the birds. You Finished top of the league so you will obviously win the grand final cos you are the best team. You are the best team over 27 rounds. Go and prove it. If you cant, then mi casu su casu!

| Over the 27 rounds we were the best team. That is fact because the league table proves it. Whether some teams weren't a4sed about it enough or not is by the by because we don't have a league table for how a4sed teams were and a co-efficient to then extrapolate a "true" table.
The GF focusses the top teams into a mini-league at the end of the season. The fewer the number of games, the more a one off result can skew things. This is not to deride the GF, it's a stasitical fact that the more events in a series then it smoothes out anomolous results in that series of events.
People forget that BITD when we had this format we actually had it because in the regular season there was a Yorkshire League and a Lancashire League. It was after that we had the Premiership. In other words, the Premiership was there because not all the teams played each other beforehand and was used as a way to decide the overall champions as a result. For the first couple of years of SL we had GF winners and then the Premiership.

Oh god. You're one of [ithose[/i people. Look, it's almost a paradox. Bottom line, grand final decides champions. To discuss the relative merits of first past the post currently holds no relevance because as long as the grand final decides champions everyone will have differing approaches to the regular season as finishing top doesn't give you the main prize. So there will be anomolous results, theres no smoothing out of anything.
To win the grand final you need to beat your main rivals, in multiple games when everything is on the line. Every knock on, mis-placed pass and penalty, every little detail can be crucial. The pressure is immense. It's a great way to decide the champions. It's only since these new teams with their uppity fans have arrived on the scene, finished near the top and failed to win the big prize we've heard murmerings about it. For the best part of a decade many teams like wigan, saints and bradford finished top and failed to be champions and no one batted an eyelid.

The statement about a tele conference was made by the BBC sport on line thing & Eddie Hemmings asked Prof Broomhead to confirm, he said it wasn't correct. what is wrong with that
