currently exiled abroad , thinking of batemans dark mild and fartown: |
|
| Still not convinced about Taai , 2 monster hits , but how many times did he lose the ball in the tackle ?Did he make a clean break ? Did he offload to put any one away ? At the end when the game was won , and Saints could be forgiven for not putting it all into the tackle , still couldn`t break through . Obviously he`s doing better than his first few games , but a way to go I fear

This weeks topics for Ta'ai:
1. Playing the ball (not using the ball to help you stand)
2. Passing the ball (when not to attempt a pass)
3. Carrying the ball (when to secure the ball)
Last weeks were:
1. How to tackle
2. How to run in attack
3. How to almost score a try

| One thing that niggled me last night was Cudjoes choices with ball in hand. He elected to try to dummy Meli when he could have laid it off to Jerry who would have drawn in Wellens and kicked into mid field as we used to do. He then seemed to give JErry the ball when there was nowhere for him to go.

| I've wondered if Jerry and Leroy have had a falling out !! **
In the past Leroy would put him away at the earliest opportunity, the last few weeks he hasn't given him the ball even when there has been a chance for a clear run for Jerry.
**= jokingly, i weren't actually suggesting they had !

| Jerry has put the ball down in good opportunities in the past...and maybe Leroy thinks length of the field tries are easy against everyone as they are v Leeds lol

Meanwhile, unlike the claim above, Gardner has not been cleared to play. He is suffering from concussion and will be assessed over time.
Well done on your win. It's only taken you 60 years to do the double on us again but good things come to those who wait, yes?
so what was mullally supposed to do in this situation when gardner was falling down going into the tackle?
wrong decision i think.

but just before that he tried a pass to jerry out the back and meli nearly intercepted...so maybe this time he thought he would go himself? if meli didnt get his hand in the way for the first pass jerry would of been in for a try and no one would of said anything.
makes me laugh we are getting all these little negative things about certain players when we have just done the double over saints and 2nd in the table

It doesn't matter though what Mullally was 'supposed' to do, or whether you think it was the right decision. Mullally made contact with the head = penalty. Simples
Agree with you about Taai though, very impressive on the tele!

| Mullally no case to answer following the match review. He had every right to be tackling there and Gardner fell into the tackle.

But any hit on the head is a penalty no matter what, so I've no problem with the pen. Shame because Broughs quick thinking and kick through was excellent

| Think we switched off a little second half and encouraged them back into it, hard to say if due to short turnaround. Mind you shows how far we have come after being a little disappointed after beating Saints.
On a seperate note Taai is getting better with every game

| I didn't think we switched off, what we were guilty of IMO was trying to score from every set of 6. We went off game plan in an attempt to build a big score when if we'd have stayed on plan the scores would have come
Ta'Ai is looking pretty damned good - but I wish he'd stop using the ball to stand up with. I thought it last week, he got penalised for it this week and he'll get done for it again

i agree we tried to keep scoring off every play at 18-0 up instead of building pressure again
