| Quote: Grimmy "The point I'm trying to make is that weekly rounds are almost wholly unimportant to the big four (us, Wire, Leeds and Saints) as we know we'll be in the mix come the business end of the season. Granted that would change if we started to look like missing out in the 8 but realistically that's not going to happen.
Barring anything catastrophic the regular season is all about trying different combinations out and preparing the team for the play offs, of course losing games in itself is a concern but only in that it bodes badly for the games that matter. ATEOTD though I'd wholly expect us to beat Hudds in the cup or the play offs regardless of regular season results, just as we did fairly convincingly last season'"
Bang on Grimmy, the thing is Hudds fan can't accept the league means nothing as that's what they won. If they admit the league is merely a means to an end then their successful season seems very unimportant.

| I don't know why people expect Wane to come out and say he doesn't care about the game, he's hardly going to do that, but actions do speak louder than words.
McM isn't injured, wasn't injured in the warm up etc. Wane wanted to give him a run out as he's not featured in the pre-season game, but wasn't going to use him for the 80 as he just needed a hit up.
Lockers was rested. Why risk our capt in a nothing game, we need him for the WCC.
Charnley has recovered, but again, why risk one of our biggest threats in a nothing game.
We can lose to Hudds and still win the GF and CC.
How annoying would it have been to play the Oz champs without Lockers, Josh and McM because they were injured in a game that means nothing.
I really don't understand why people can't see the logic in this.

Good luck with the world club challenge. An away game against a vastly superior side. This year's Wigan side is probably the worst since the 1981 relegation season. they have 16 start at the bookies.
And before we get the response we did it in 1994 take a look at that team. From memory there was Connolly, Robinson, Offiah,Edwards, Botica, Dermot, Betts, Farrell and Clarke. Wigan legends.
Of the current team only Lockers is in anywhere near that category and Charnley maybe one day.
Wigan will win nothing this year and that's from a born and bred Wiganer.
You've lined yourself up for a big fall and you are going to get one.

Why? Since 2006 both trophies have always been won by Leeds, Wigan, Warrington and Saints. Those same four teams have also occupied 4 of the top 6 spots since 2008 and contested all Grand Finals since 2007. Same story since the millennium really except Bradford used to be a force rather than Warrington, Hull won a Challenge Cup and made a Grand Final, and we lost the plot in 05-06.
I'm not saying Huddersfield will never break into that group but surely you can see it exists. The bookies certainly agree with what I'm saying looking at the Grand Final Winner odds. Having said that I hope you do break into that category by winning one of the two trophies because having the same four teams winning everything every year isn't good for the competition.

Oh aye you can see I'm well liked on this thread Fair enough, I thought it was pretty bad myself. We definitely need to offer kickers some protection. It's far too tempting for players to clobber them unawares if they don't think they'll cop much punishment for it IMO

That was my reaction live.
I've watched it again for the first time 2 minutes ago and even changed my mind about a ban.
