| That's an £100K "if".
I'd not heard of a queue of clubs chasing him and if there was, he wouldn't have picked Giants, with all respect.

| In modern sport it’s best just to ignore the money and finances unless you are Ken Davy or his financial director. Otherwise it’s just guess work and assumptions.
Giants have signed an outstanding young prop with loads of potential. I’m happy. V happy.

James? James Rule? Is that you?
Not sure Bulls or Widnes fans will agree with you. You won't be able to rely on Ken Davy for ever.

You think not? With players like OB and mellor he will know personally already happy and playing well here that will be a big draw. Remember giants academy is grade 1. And Andy Kelly and Robbo will have had a word in his ear.

| I'm sure i read he was under contract until 2020, not end of this season? So would have to wait a year and a half for him to be free agent, no?

And if he’s under 21 he will command a fee full stop.

all about the pathway...
some clubs you wont get a chance because they already have players in that position who are first choice picks for years ahead.. so wouldnt get a game.
we give youngsters a chance here

Young players don't go for free even at the end of their contracts. If a 19 year old player has spent 2 years in a clubs scholarship programme and then 3 years in their Academy programme then there is an automatic transfer fee of just short of £40k when they come out of contract.
It equates to £100 per week spent in the scholarship programme and £175 per week spent in the Academy programme.
This assumes that the player is offered a further deal with their parent club on a comparable or increased wage.

Now dont go talking sense. Some don’t even know the rules of the game- let alone the nuances of things like transfer fees for players U21.

| Perhaps the “six figure fee” includes the two after the decimal point?
No club in their right mind spends 100k on a player who hasn’t been anywhere near SL.

| Olly Wilson is a fantastic prospect and IMO he will be a cracking player for you down the line.
He had a cracking game v the Aussie Schoolboys at Headingley last year when he really ripped into them

| Watched the academy game today and Wilson stood out for me instantly. Hes the same type of player as Chris Hill.
Dom Young is also such a powerful young man.
Ross Whitemore also very good.

Dom Young strong and skilful- not a great rugby brain. But such an athlete that lad.
Ross is certainly shaping up very nicely-
We seem to have a few lads recently play loose forward at academy who seem to do so well and then somehow fall away.

I can see Dom going down a similar path to Crabtree. Starting in the centres and ending up as a prop.
