Hughes has similar defence stats but is only making 6.85 metres per carry so is not given the same level of attacking threat as Larne.

Well, all in it hasn't been a great day to be a Fartown fan IMO!

Despite the loss of Larne we are still a top squad and well capable of 4th at least next season. What we need, which we still haven't rectified and isn't easily sorted, is a proper inspirational leader type player.
Hopefully Huby will give us something different in the pack and will teach Mullally some stuff so that he can push on as well.

Leroy has to do better next year and if Joe maintains his levels then we have a couple of cracking centres. Smurf at FB and we look safe as houses at the back. Grix to fill in there depending on opposition etc. We have options.

So just misinformation again then- and there's the issue! as when I asked at the ticket office the response wasn't particularly positive Re numbers!
And it's no good telling YOU something then expecting everyone to personally "contact the club" for the same information-as has been said before-we shouldnt have to! Until the club start to recognise this nothing will improve and numbers won't increase significantly. if you have been told something and it wasn't explicitly said it was in confidence then please tell us- as chairman of the supporters club isn't that the point! Rather than several hundred people all request information! We keep being told to go via the supporters association- but it's all one way traffic!!!
It was said at the meeting last week larne wasn't going- a week later he is- is it any surprise that folk are a little miffed!!! Then -as chairman of supporters association- you come out with, well I was told something but I can't say.... Any wonder people have no confidence - it all reeks of an us and them mentality with thewlis leading the charge.

I think one thing is for certain and that is as it stands our squad will be weaker than it has been for the last few years. It was clear from last season we needed to strengthen but the opposite is happening.

I don't have much issue with losing the majority of players who have left or the reasons behind it - with the exception of Larne - but what I have an issue with is if you release / sell / lose a player and you have ambition you should replace them with stronger players or at least those of an equal standard. In the main, this simply doesn't appear to happening and I can only assume that this is due to an effort to reduce the wage bill.

If it is the case that this is what they are doing then the club should be honest with the fans. If anyone can currently work out the logic of the comings and goings at the club, they are a better person than me.

I've said it many times before, until we get better crowds and thus, more money, we won't be getting any 'big names' for a while. It is pretty clear that we are trying to reduce outgoings on wages etc ......it isn't ideal but as a club we simply cannot carry on bringing quality into the squad without the finances for it.

I completely agree - I don't want to end up like Bradford or numerous other clubs but why can't the club just be honest and say this.

My opinion ....because certain sections of our fanbase would hammer them for it, not because of what they are doing but because they don't understand why, to some of our fans we are a top club who should be bringing the worlds best players to the club and if they don't they criticise them for not doing so, threaten to withdraw their support, slag the club/players/staff off on social media etc etc.

Maybe the club just think its easier to deal with stuff without informing fans what's going on....personally i wish they would be more open but can understand why they would be reluctant to be.

I don't think certain sections would like it no- but it's happening anyway so why risk peeing off those that are going to be peed off anyway (those certain sections) AND those that WOULd accept it better if there was a degree of honesty!!!

the club has recently invested in a full time academy too, hardly cutting costs.

one player i was not happy to see leaving was kaufusi...but that was his choice not the clubs, not surprised the way he was treated by anderson really.

i think some of our fans would rather see us go the way of hull kr and have wholesale changes every season bringing in 8 players, least it would make the off season entertaining.. we wouldnt be finishing in the playoffs every season if we did but at least it would give some fans something to talk about.

we have a settled club with sponsors all renewing and little in and outs with players.. not chaos like some clubs.. top 4 for how many seasons now? still we havent won anything but we are still punching way above our weight, this last paragraph is probably a good reason for that too

Well posted Daz.The club on many occasions have their hands tied,take the players coming into the club and those leaving most did not want it made public so the club honoured their wishes.Daz is spot on we need more spectators to generate more finances to sign better class players.I have on several occasions contacted Richard Thewlis by email,telephone and face to face and I found him to be very open and honest to every question I put to him yet this guy is pulled to pieces by posters on this forum by people who should certainly know better,Richard is the MD of the Giants and as such relays the decisions of the 'BOARD' not his personal views.Reading this forum convinces me that most posters have a true love of RL and especially the Giants but there are times when it seems some guys let their keyboard run away from them.
Finally RL is a team game (not just the players)but from the lowest office person up to the Chairman(and us spectators) it cannot be an easy task for any of them and having some posters pulling them to bits at every opportunity must make them wonder if it is at all worth it.
