| NEVER underestimate the power of the fans!
Around 3,000 Warrington supporters banked behind the sticks chanted ‘Hodgson is a Wire, Hodgson is a Wire’ early into today’s Challenge Cup fifth round tie and the Huddersfield captain put his hand behind his back to signal his acknowledgement.
(above taken from the Warrington Guardian) - confirmed by Wires!

| I live ~5 miles from you mate. My missus isn't an RL fan. I was sat in my house up from the Olive Tree today as sick as a chip. Proper gutted. But at the same time, you're bound to see those sort of posts on the wire forum from the posters who see fairies and pigs flying etc. Hodgson strikes me as being a smarter person than that.

I don't know the context, but maybe he was trying to signal a 'play'?

| aww boo freakin hoo.
He had a shocker today but still a class player.
Players move on all the time, Atkins did exactly the same last year and went on to have a fine season/playoffs.

? Did Atkins stick his thumbs up at Warrington fans who were chanting his name while he was wearing a Wakefield strip? That's what OP is saying.

Dont give a monkeys about who? Atkins.......I am commenting about Brett Hodgson - even the Wires are commenting on how unprofessional it was - he cant have been signalling a play when waiting for a Wire conversion!.

| Yes he gave the thumbs up to the wire fans while wearing a wakefield shirt. Before going on to play his part on Wakefields best season in a long time.
Thats why I used the example.
Hodgsons obviously not fit, if you sack players for something like this you might find yourselves with an interesting legal bill

Yes, yes he did!
Do you really think Hodgson gives a monkey's about whether he plays for you again or not??
At his age he would probably be delighted at the thought of a long off-season to prepare himself for playing at Wire.
If he plays for you until the end of the year he'll give his all and, when fit, will be one of your best players.
If I were you I'd worry more about what other players were doing with their hands (missing tackles, knocking on, etc) rather than whether Hodgson gave a thumbs up to Wire fans who were chanting his name.

Giving his all would mean not acknowledging the Wire fans and coming over to all the Huddersfield fans they were left ( he could have done it indavidually and it would have only taken 10 minutes ) and apologising as team captain for the most pathetic display i have seen by a Huddersfield team in 32 years.
If he had done that i would give him the benefit of the doubt. As team captain I want him to be hurting as much as we are not engaging in little jokes or friendly banter with a rival teams fans. Will he give Wigan fans the same gesture when they start chanting it next week. He can FO now AFAIC

| To be fair to him today he didn't look fit & it wasn't just him who let the Wire players ghost throgh for some of the tries. Wonder if he will be playing next week?

| The whole thing is turning into a bloody farce. This deal should never have been tied up halfway through a season, it's not like we are talking about a fringe player here this is the current man of steel. Secondly, any fan of any club would feel the same as Giants fans are feeling right now. Imagine Graham signing for Wigan during a season and giving a thumbs up to their supporters while his side are being thrased at home? Or Richie Myler signing for Saints and doing the same thing? It's cheap and if it is true then it shows the guy lacks class and I wouldn't expect to see him turn out for us again. All the good work an individual has done in the past can be undone very quickly by acting like a tit. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
