| So grix gave away a try, but Hinchcliffe and Jerry both dropped the ball on the line, leading to a score for the opposition and it doesn't lead to this hammering of a player. How many trys does Jerry give away due to poor defensive positioning? Three on the trot identical tries whilst we were leading at Cas which led to us losing the points. Because grix isn't scoring the tries it's assumed he does nothing else. Some people watch but clearly don't understand.

| Quote: the stella kid "He was injured in the first game of the season when the game was still close. He has only played the last two games since then. One we won and one we lost. Inbetween this we have hardly won a game. How is Grix to blame for this. I have to serious think we have the most uneducated fans of any club. I am not saying he played well last week but he was no worse than half a dozen others. We are two thirds of the way through the season and Grix has had one poor game. For gods sake try understanding were the actual problem is and why the Giants are in the position they are.'"
The point is that Brierley was doing nothing wrong apart from the odd high ball, he scored a hat trick against Wigan length of the field try against Leeds and was starting to look the part. He enters the line better for me too.
Of course there were other players who made errors but the comments are as much as to why Grix returned straight away and I can't for the life in me see how his return strengthened the side.
Let's forget this 'tosh' about finishing in the eight it ain't gonna happen we signed an exciting prospect to play full back he should learn on the field and gives us genuine pace something we are short of so why is he sat in the stands watching Grix ??

| yeh think people are missing the point that in brierley we have a direct/better replacement for grix. also why play grix when he is going at the end of the season? brierley has had two games to watch now what to do and what not to do

Think this is exactly the point people are making, Jerry and others do make mistakes, but we haven't bought replacements for them, just to sit them in the stand, It makes no sense at all to me, obviously does to PA though.

| Me and my dad said against Saints 'Watch it grix will cost us a try from a dropped high ball' and he did, no scapegoat at all, he does it all the time, that's why people keep mentioning it. Full back is not the place for someone who struggles under pressure or has the dropsies, sometimes you can visibly see his confidence drain after he makes his usual mistake. I have no idea why he is back in the side.
Don't rate him, some do, opinions are not fact, so it's pointless me telling someone else they are wrong, ill just let people have their opinions and ill stick to mine.

| PA got us all excited by threatening changes, he could have warned us the changes were Brough and Ikahihifo!! When we heard Broughy was out the first thoughts were, "A perfect opportunity to play Brierley in the halves"
But alas NO, the love affair with Grix at full back to continue and put Brierley on the bench. It was obvious PA would not bring Brierley on until the game was over.
But when he came on at 55 minutes what a difference he made, up to that point we had no direction at all then Brierley took over and we started to play.
The problem with PA is that he is stubborn and will not admit when he gets it wrong, but he needs to swallow his pride and admit he got it totally wrong tonight.
I've never been part of the PA out brigade but if PA drops Brierley again this week he should be sacked on the spot for gross misconduct for not putting the best interest of the club first.
So I'll help him out with next week's team selection:
1. Connor
2. Jerry
3. Leroy
4. Wardle
5. Murphy/McIntosh
6. Brough
7. Brierley
8. Crabtree
9. Wood
10. Mason
11. Taai
12. Bruno
13. Hinchcliffe
Subs:
Rapira
Roberts (And give him more than a 15 minute cameo role)
Johnson
Leeming

| What, no Ellis ? Connor at full back although he hasn't played there this year! No Grix, who is our no. one full back, even though you may be biased against him? Brierley in the halves which, I would have some sympathy with but the concensus on here is that he must be full back? No Thanks. I think you have got it wrong, now you may appreciate that PA cant please everyone on here, but he has the job and we as supporters should back him and the team through the good times and probably more importantly through the present difficult time.

| RE Ollie35. You pointed out our full backs spill under a high ball, fair enough, what a shame you and your dad didnt mention his try saving tackle on the line, that would given your opinion balance instead of bias. Just saying!

I think you are missing the point that when brierley came on Woody went to acting half - I think THAT is what actually made the difference to us starting to play rather than what brierley did.

We've won four games all season. Clearly The losses have all been grixs fault whilst he's been sitting on the sidelines for all but the three games he's played in.

I agree totally Jools but let's get real Grix is not the future hence the reason to play him over Brierley appears skewed when Brierley did nothing to deserve the 'axe' and Grix without scapegoating him has not done enough to warrant his recall.
The person to blame is the bloke who made the call not Scott Grix.

And 2 of those defeats have in my opinion been the worst 2 defeats of the season as we actually had better players available who were sat in the stands. I could accept the earlier season defeats when injuries were biting but there was no reason to drop Brierley for the Magic game. Grixy did ok in that game but still dropped a ball on our line gifting saints 6 points, but it didn't matter then as we were so far ahead.
I'm not saying the last 2 defeats were Grix's fault, not by any means, but for God's sake let's pick the best team available to us instead of picking players for sentimentality purposes.
We've got 6 games left this season which for all intents and purposes are dead rubbers, so let's get the best team we have out there and get things right for the battles we are going to have in the middle 8's.

| I'd say our worst performances have been against Cas and Wakey this year. In the other fixtures brough and brierley played, at Cas brierley at FB and at Wakey partnered brough in the halves, all be it his first game.
Brierley isn't the messiah, playing him isn't going to change how we play, the penalties we concede, the tackles we miss or the rubbish linespeed. It's not going to change the fact that players are taking the ball from being stood still then take it straight into the line. That's down to individuals.

Granted it doesn't but there was several occasions our kicks were long, deep and dead. Which would be a fine tactic if we were restricting their meters, however that wasn't the case. Castleford made a lot meters running with the ball. Brierley was on for 20 mins tops and was offering a lot more in the way we finished sets. Kicks for two drop outs, a big cross field kick that was contested and a chase and reach to score a try.
We have a fair few issues but we are certainly a better side with brierley in it.
