| Anderson has confirmed we've held talks with Danny Tickle although made it clear nothing has been decided or agreed.

| If this is what he's looking at then the club is doomed.

| Quote: Crackerjack "personally I have my doubts about trying to convert a halfback with pace into a full back. Someone had that great idea with a halfback on the verge of playing at international level and it was just about curtain down for the lad He too had pace--and of similar build and whilst there wasnt a lot wrong with his tackling technique with the big fellas at pace it was all too often try time!
As Isaid in another post Hodson was a "special" at full back and although fairly slight framed his tackling technique for his size was flawless
i get fed up of trying to convert players signed whilst playing in a position theyve learned their trade to different roles Just my opinion
So i hope the recent signing of this lad with potential isnt wasted by experimentation
Let him settle in with us where he got noticed and then see how he goes
Saw bruno in a cup semi at Salford afterhe`d been tried at centre and wingman playing as he does now in the 2nd row Quite honestly the poor fella didnt seem to know where he should postion himself. Good as he is now in that role I would have preferred to keep his pace (with his then size) and tackled as he does to close that space down --much as we`d like Connor to do now iot apperas on here
think some times when ive seen the team sheet they put the positions in a hat! - and its spot the permutation!
bulletproof vest at the ready!!
Lot's of sense in and amongst that, You also have to remember we have two so called halves That have to be slotted in somewhere to justify someone signing them, I don't mean that in a controversial way, just that we signed them for a purpose we assume.
It gets a bit comical at times, we have been screaming out for a good pacy halfback for years, when we finally sign one ,it is to play fullback so that a player who is not as good in that position can keep his place.
The method seems to be get them all in somewhere, never mind where they play best, As Arkwright would put it, J J J J Jiggle em about a bit, To be fair to MR Anderson though he wont know where Brearley is best suited yet. I can live with him at Fullback, what happens when Grix is fit. Best solution for me is Ellis to LF but it will take a while yet.

| I would play Brierely at half back for now.
Let brough organise and kick and let Brierely run and take offloads

| .....................but less of a double gamble than dropping a loan signing who`s played full back to replace him with an established halfback as Ive claimed before
Its using players as "play anywhere commodities" and taking risks "it`ll come off"
Frankly dont see our league position allowing that comfort zone
You can take risks and experiment when youre at or nearer the top --not where we find ourserlves ! Then you CAN try players in different positions AND blood youngsters into a settled established and successful team
But those in charge ewill doas they see fit and I`ll buy a season ticket ---and grit my teeth and bear it ---and others on here will try convince me otherwise
Thats democracy folks!! - and at the moment --a LONG HARD SEASON!!
One thing however does raise questions
Why so many injuries when the seasons just started and no competitive games - what happens mid season when we play the real matches? pessimist or doom merchant --I find it worrying!

| We are not the only team with injuries, plenty of other, plenty out for season too. Think the tickle situation just illustrates, as Anderson said when Ferres left, there just isn't the players available at the moment. We are looking at what's available. We have cap space, brierley did command a transfer fee I'm sure but not everything we had and his wages won't be massive at the moment. We got money for Ferres, a lot more than we paid for brierley. So we have available funds but there just isn't the calibre of player we'd like. So if tickle has the fitness, he certainly has the ability and experience for the short term but fitness is the question.
