New coach with new ideas, not just a rehash of a previous coach who also got sacked...
One of the brightest young Half backs in the comp signed to play alongside THE best half back in the comp
The best winger & centre in the comp
Seasoned players in the pack alongside young turks hungry for the game
A new fullback along the way who is genuinely exciting and maybe a new prop who is has a superb set of stats behind him and has the potential to be as good as any in the league
Have we lost some players? Sure
But let's be brutally honest, they weren't good enough to get us to old Trafford in the last 5 years, in fact how many playoff games did we win? How many cup games?
Maybe some of that old guard needed sweeping out'"
it did need sweeping on indeed.
young turks?!

With all those Best's you would think the rest of the league would give in.

| It's not wrong though
We do have the best wing centre pairing and the best stand off

| Thats only 3 bests, McGillivray, Cudjoe and Brough, I dont think many of the rest of the league would argue with that ..

| Just looked at last season SL table at the end of the regular season and some noteworthy points
If we'd won our two games v Wakey we'd have finished 8th
We scored more and conceded less than every team below 6th apart from Salford
The results of last season show undeniable we lost because of discipline and conditioning
8th is well within our grasp, as is top 6

I'm with you Code.
We had tough year last year starting with Robbo / Ferres and onto injuries.
Confidence dipped never to return.
Despite that we were still competitive in most games.
New conditioner, full pre-season for Derek, Tom Symonds, Ryan Brierley and the Bradford 3 are the positives. Always a fan of Dale Ferguson so I've no doubts there. Paul Clough always solid when I saw him at Saints. Lee Gaskell I can't really comment on as I've not seen him play that much.
If we can get Wakeman and Mamo over the line we should be good to go.
As always it's all about moving forward more than the oppo.
Time will tell but my glass is half full ATM.

| I will have a go Jools, the point being made is we were very close in many games and not completely outclassed therefore, with better coaching and conditioning we have every reason to be optimistic about the new season.

Well as i have stated elsewhere optimism for me will be top 8, I will be satisfied with that for this season. I don't know any better than anyone else what the Bradford lads will do, But you have to be realistic, they were in the championship for a reason.
I don't dispute all the reasons stated for us having a poor season, but i think jools has a point as well, every other club could come up with their own list. We shall be better this season though.

| I picked the two Wakey games because the only time in the last decade we didn't finish top 8 was the last time we dropped points to them

Wakey have recruited well this season, a good mix of experience and youth in their side. The return of John Kear also.
You may be sniffy about them code but the fact remains They WERE better than us last season, certainly were smarter than us last year making sure they stayed out of the bottom Four by giving it all early on. who's to say we take any points of them again in 5 years? There's no right we have to do that- and we didn't deserve to last season!

| I'm not arguing with any of that
What I'm trying to say is we are better than last season by a long way, and our form in the last decade shows that
I'm trying to dispel some of the doom and gloom on this forum
