Identifying the issues and problems is only the first stage... Hopefully sufficient action will be taken to solving those problems.
I think we all know were not too far off from being where we need to be... Hopefully this disappointing season can be used as an advantage for next year. |

andy kelly said that anderson wanted big players then lean players then back to big the last 3 seasons and the bodies dont respond like that in such a short space of time, when questioned about the fitness of players, in the hgsa column today

Why do we have to be happy with 8th out of 12, Can we not aim for top spot and regard anything less as disappointing. That's the mentality at some clubs. |

The irony of your post is obviously lost on you. Dad points out that people in the club stone Kelly Thor man etc saying there were bad things going on in the club.
We hear that Anderson messed around with players training regimes wanting big players rather than fast players etc. All suggestive of what some of us were saying at the time that there was something wrong at the club and that it needed changing. Yet you and jools consistently argued insulted an dpatronised those supporters on here who were saying a year ago or more what the insiders in the club are now telling us were issues at the time.

I'm not sure i have ever argued or insulted anyone on here, i've disagreed with people over things and i have had my opinion questioned by other posters, so i'd appreciate if you took that back.
As for the irony, you obviously don't get the irony of my response.

The irony of your posts are you consistently put words in my mouth. You assign my to saying things I did not. I note meast has also said similar. I have strong opinions that I put forward- you call it argument, I suspect you don't mean it in the sense of putting forward evidence or reasoning to back up an opinion but in the sense of an angry disagreement. I call it debate. You may get angry when people disagree with you, I don't- I have a very strong belief in free speech and I will fight for the right for someone to put forward their opinions even if I don't agree with them. I was one of the first to question the conditioning of the players after just a couple of weeks- brearley was the first I believe- what we said was poo-pooed -by you- at the time if I remember correctly. |

I've posted on here in the past the gist of what has been said but it is usually dismissed or challenged by folk who (think they) know better so i stopped bothering, may as well have them as our guests as they seem to know the club and the RL world a lot better.
And if a guest hasn't asked specifically for what they've told us not to be banded around then i'll happily say something as do other people who were present.
A lot of the times stuff said is either personal thoughts or stuff from within the club that probably isn't for general listening as it were and obviously as an association it's not really fair for our member to go and get the guest 'into trouble' by saying "he said, she said" when they've requested it not to be.
In a nutshell the coaching side of the club acknowledge there have been issues/problems stemming from previous regimes and the way they chose to do things. This is something that has been pinpointed and is been worked on and it will take time to get things how the current team want it...be that training regimes, strength and conditioning, players attitudes and what they were allowed to get away with compared to what the new team want from them, structures within the game plan etc
One thing that has been stressed is that there isn't a 'bad egg' among them like some have suggested but more a case of certain people not doing enough, which again is hoping to be eradicated.
The players have reacted well to Rick and his team and are 'towing the line' in regards to his instructions.
Without naming individuals and what has been said about or by them, i and others who have heard from people within the club i'm sure have the utmost confidence that things will be different.
Rick needs time to stamp his mark on the club and mend it ...and that requires everyone else, the board, the players, the other members of the backroom team and of course the supporters to trust him with what he wants to do and be patient.
There is a lot to change and it won't happen overnight.
As i've said it isn't just for HGSA members ears but this is what we do - we provide speakers for our meetings, to entertain our members. We're not journalists trying to grab the latest rumour or big gossip story for all and sundry.
I realise not everyone lives in Huddersfield, and for those we can try and highlight what has been said in our Examiner column and brief on here, but a lot do and there is nothing stopping them becoming members and coming along themselves to hear what gets said. We have to respect the clubs and the individuals wishes at times.

Sorry , that was not meant as a criticism, My point was that there has been endless years of settling for survival and less.
It is not only the club and players that need to lift their sights , "after our close brush with possible oblivion".
We have to shake off this attitude of ,We are punching above our weight.
You say Top 8 would be a vast improvement on this season, That's obviously very true, Finishing 11th would be an improvement, A place in the Grand final would be even vaster. We start with a clean sheet and spend the same as the rest , Let's get rid of this " we know our place attitude ". |
