| Not happy with this news for a number of reasons.
He's young.
He can cover a lot of positions.
He's fearless
He's homegrown so will have been discounted on our salary. (I think)
However, if we was still top four this season would he be leaving? Not sure keeping somebody on who has gone through our acamedy and been apart of our rise would abandom ship when the going gets tough is a good idea.
We've clearly had a lot of problems behind the scenes this season. I hope the departure of Anderson can sort this out and people will just enjoy playing for the Giants b

| Took his try well on Friday night but hadn't improved as expected this year in my opinion and maybe the thoughts are we have better prospects in the academy coming through and Jake would have asked for a bigger chunk of salary as an established player.'
His attitude at times when he 'loses' it doesn't help good luck to him but he can be replaced.

Hes our second highest try scorer this season and third highest for try assists.
He's also second highest for missed tackles and top for errors and penalties.
He's not the paciest but he's no slouch- probably quicker than Ellis!
If he continued to learn to cut out the errors and penalties and works on his tackling, we could well be rueing Jake going.
On the opposite side we have Sam Wood knocking on the door- he's played a bit in the back row and can also play in the halves, can kick a bit too. He's a very determined young man- but has more humility than Jake. Let's hope we offer him another deal and he starts to make his mark-

| We've seen some good things from Jake, and some not quite so good.Obviously got time on his side, but if a player wants to move on for whatever reason,no point getting in their way.
One thing I will miss is his feisty attitude. Not frightened by reputations.

| Did we let him go, or was it the player decided he wanted to change?
For me he will be a big miss, yes he gives away too many penalties, so does Brough, it's the very thing that makes him a winner, take too much of that away and hes half the player he could be.

| I think people forget how young Jake still is, very early 20s but seems to have been around forever, and we expect him to be the finished article. The truth is he hasn't had the chance. He has a great winning mentality and he will take a risk.
To me he was Broughs long term replacement, I hope this is the last of our young talent to leave.

| I agree with the first part of your post-
But I think he was given s chance and has played most games this season and many last- this season he's been called upon in many different guises due to our injury problems. I'm not so sure that Connor was seen as a half back long term - he hadn't even been playing half back towards the end of his academy days.
Farrell I think is pencilled in there. - lets hope we keep him!

The new coach whoever he turns out to be, may see Brierley as the perfect partner for Brough, He has the pace and an eye for the gap, Not all coaches will have PA's approach to coaching and it's time we had some pace at half, I hope we make more use of Brierleys obvious try scoring abilities.

| If you look at our team there are currently rumoured to be three leavers and three already gone
Connor to Hull
Grix to Superleague/Halifax
Wardle to Newcastle Knight.
Patrick gone.
Ferres gone.
Robinson retired.
Incoming we have already got Brierley, Ormsby is rumoured to be signed already there are rumours about Gaskell and Jack Reed.
A fit Jack Reed and Ormsby would give us a pretty good 2-5 with Smurph and Brierley vying for full back and Brierley and Gaskell if he comes back ups/ rotation for Brough and Ellis. Sam Wood should push on and get better so competition and cover in the backs should be good.
Brough and Ellis halves.
If Red doesn't come I believe we still need a high quality centre if Wardle goes.
For me that would improve our back line no end with options to rotate.
In the forwards we have four experienced props Crabtree, Huby, Smith and Rapira plus Johnson and Mason who will have strengthened and matured a bit more for next season and improved from playing a lot this one.
Hookers we have Hinchcliffe, Leeming and Wood which gives us enough cover and Leemng should continue to improve both physically and performance wise. Wood is playing for a new contract but looks a back up hooker not a half.
Back row we have Symonds, Ta'ai (hopefully re-signed) Lawrence, Roberts, Ikahihifo and Hinchcliffe can spell and play 13 if we get injuries.
Plus some more good youngsters coming through to make their mark.
Survive the middle 8's get a good new coach on board and he would seem to have the raw materials to put out a competitive top 8 side next year with a couple of signings and tweaks.
So to me Connor going and us allowing Wardle to go to the NRL makes sense , no point having unhappy players, these things happen in team sports, just so long as we spend the cap that creates wisely the future looks quite bright really.

| Yet again The spin Has started coming from Thewlis regarding Jake Connor and his move to Hull. He wants a fee despite offering him an inferior deal than Hull have.
The Pinocchio of Rugby League Thewlis at it again, I am sure Anderson would tell a different tail now he has lost his job. Thewlis prefers to deal with his Favourite Agent and shuns all others. Do not believe him.

We are entitled to compensation for a club trained player I believe and had to pay Bradford some for Joe Wardle.
So don't see where there's owt wrong with that.

| if the Club were serious about keeping our young players then pay them. We seem to find money for the overseas players. Rumour has it Jake was offered less ? ARE WE STILL SHORT OF MONEY? Expect more players moving on I predict.

Why is it assumed in the negative we are offering less. It could be we paid the going rate and Hull upped it because he fitted their profile so offered more and then it's a debate about the worth of a player to us to decide if we up our offer.
If Jake had fallen out with PA as rumoured then maybe he wasn't for turning or was too far down the road with Hull when PA went.
