| Hang on we had a season where we performed poorly but finished 3rd
Have people forgotten that?

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |
|
| What in the name of Odin has our kit got to do with the way we'll play?
Admittedly both are an abomination on the eye, the away one looks like Leroy's off to work at a DIY store, but they've worn worse.
Actually scratch that, even the "paintball" kit was better than either of these two. At least that was trying to achieve something. If we signed a new deal knowing that these were the designs for the new shirts whoever greenlighted it wants their eyes testing.

| Hold on. 4 top players? Chan missed the end of the season. Faiumu played 17 games, Patrick 19 and Kaufusi 19. None of them were regulars week in week out. Only Faiumu could be called a top player and he played the fewest.
We've lost 4 squad players and replaced them with a top prop and 3 young prospects. Plus the development of our own young players, the squad looks slightly stronger.

| It's a thread about the kit! There's more than enough threads to have a whinge about everything else!
How difficult is it to keep on subject?!

Huddersfield Giants - "We know our place": |
|
|
I say this nearly every year. The club has, as a result of decisions taken a century or more ago, a genuine design classic in it's possession. Claret and gold hoops. It's a superb shirt, completely unlike every other shirt, not just in the game but in pretty much all sport.
There's no reason whatsoever to significantly change the home shirt. Play around with the away strip as much as you want, but the home shirt should be sacrosanct.
Worth looking at this link
www.historicalkits.co.uk/Hudders ... d_Town.htm
You'll see that, since the First World War Town have varied from blue and white vertical stripes in only four seasons. They've still varied the design - sometimes it's awful (1987 Greenalls) and sometimes it's been so good I've been tempted to buy one myself (1995 Panasonic) but it's always blue and white vertical stripes.
Football gets this right. Every single Liverpool strip since the mid-60s has been red shirts, red shorts, red socks. Every single Arsenal shirt in 80 years, bar the last season at Highbury, has been a variant of red with white sleeves. Newcastle Utd have played in black and white vertical stripes every season since 1894.
The shirt is the single most important visual signature that the club has, the thing that gets shown on live TV for hours every year, the thing that gets on clips on the news. It ought to be the case that everyone interested in sport in this country sees a claret and gold hooped shirt and instantly thinks "aha - Huddersfield Giants rugby league". But every year we get this mess and people who see the shirt will probably think "non-league football club, like Bicester Town or something"
It's a design classic. For God's sake treat it with the respect it deserves.
If it was up to me I'd tell the RFL that we wear claret and gold hoops home and away and they can like it or lump it. The only exception would be the day that Brisbane come to town, when as a courtesy to our visitors we'd wear white.
And just for fun, the only really comparable shirts I'm aware of in the UK are Underbank and, a bit obscurely, St Edmund's Hall RUFC in Oxford.

I like the paintball kit. Showing off a bit, but I wore it a few years back to the NRL Grand Final. Loads of people asked me about it.

Having now seen the full gallery, it doesn't look as bad as I first thought but I 100% agree with all the above

| Agree with Steve.....there is not a more beautiful sight in British Rugby League than a traditional Huddersfield Rugby League shirt, Claret with thin gold hoops and a white collar is simple traditional and looks bloody superb....why mess with it ? like you say if you want to appeal to the younger end or those who want something different do it to the away/alternative shirt, leave our home shirt alone, the basis EVERY YEAR should be claret and gold hoops, yes tweak it here and there but the club should never allow it to be massacred like we seem to be doing these days.

| Well done the club on getting both strips out at the same time, first time ive known them do this in a loooong time!
also i like the collars they have gone for this time, unless they sell the collars different to what is shown on pics..like two years ago
at first i didnt like the shirts, the home one is ok, may grow on me... the away one i thought was boring but on the back sleeve it has the giants face which i like..
we had a purple alternative strip a few years ago, remember that one...
its hard to get a shirt to look good when you have a big white rectangle box with bond it on it too!
£50.. very steep. but always is

If it was claret and gold hoops every year- would you buy one EVERY year- I wouldnt! Putting out more or less the same shirt svery year wouldn't work- we'd sell even less than we already do.
I always get one as i know the money helps the club recruit and retain players. - now I've seen them this year I'm tempted to get both!!!

yep would be no point buying a new one if it was similar every year.

No, but i don't buy them anyway as i don't find them value for money and cannot justify paying £50 !!!!! for a bit of thin polyester, plus i have a retro shirt that i will use for years that is much better quality than anything the club/kooga will ever produce. I haven't bought a shirt since the 2003 one.
I'm too much of a traditionalist when it comes to the kits etc so will always be disappointed if it doesn't resemble a 'proper' Fartown shirt, i realise the club want to maximise sales and in this day and age it seems toheuglier the kits are the more attractive they are to buyers. We've certainly had worse than these but they're not to my taste unfortunately.
Plus people seem to forget that it's only the last few years we've gone down the football route of fleecing fans with 2 new kits every year, before that it was every 2 years alternatively, and before that we had Claret & Gold hoops every year for god knows how many years cos that was our colours !!
