| cracking player, for a few seasons now too... still only 21!
lucky to have him and cudjoe on the other side (thanks nathan brown)
really improved his attack this season too scoring plenty of tries, his defence has always been rock solid and a string runner...him and ferres running at you all day ouch.
as for the red card ..if it was a leeds player it would of been a sin bin at the worst.
not like wardle to lose his temper like that, never seen him do anything like that before but andersons comment are interesing.
early guilty plea? miss widnes game. bring dawson in and murphy to centre

| I understand what you are saying JerryChicken, its just not the way I saw it, no doubt club loyalties affect both perspectives, so I'll simply agree to disagree with you on this one.

| I didnt necesarily mean the punches were briliant haymakers, probably worded it wrong at the time, more a case of if your going to hit someone - do it, dont faff about with handbags and half d attempts.
I'm more than happy for Joe to miss a game or two for it, its about time someone belted one of that lot - shame it weren't McGuire but Ablett will do for now

Pointless having a go at McGuire, his best years are long behind him and most Leeds supporters are well aware of that, its a pity that he hasn't matured into a great playmaker in the style of John Holmes who simply got better after he'd lost his speed but McGuire is the only one who thinks he still has "it".

Yep, hitting a man when he's being pulled from behind backwards to the ground- very much baileys style.

| Flush on the hairline!
We can have all these arguments that Bailey is some sort of hard man but they're about as believable as your man Lawrie L not being some short, fat, thick ginger virgin no mark keyboard warrior with a chip on his shoulder.
And even if he weren't (which is a redundant comment given he is but will be qualified by what follows); who cares?
This is the internet and we are all equally worthless. I await the scathing retorts and when my feelings are hurt I shall take comfort from the arms of my supermodel girlfriend, my decadent home & possessions and my bulging bank account....
Do you seeeeeeeee?

For 5 unanswered punches? You are joking right? That'd have got you a red in the Skerrett era.

All it demonstrated is you can easily wind up Giants players, they react violently causing no harm to the opposition & get sent off. That'll teach 'em.
As for the suggestion that one team was dirty & the other on the receiving end is naive to the point of stupidity.

| Maybe, as we usualy have 12 men anyway when we hand them their backsides ....it was a plan of ours to have a man sent off...that was probably a great tactic by Baloo cos we know they dont beat us with 12 men !

| Every team one way or another has had a player who loses their rag and punches out. It's part of the game and has been for years and will be here for more years to come. Some teams retaliate back and others let it go just like Leeds and Ablett did on Saturday. The only people who know what went on in the tackle and the aftermath are Wardle and Ablett.
It was probably a sending off as Ablett didn't fight back, if he had done then it could've been a sin binning for both players. Some comments on this thread are laughable, Wardle saw red over something Ablett said or did to him and punched out. For whatever reason and I'm guessing maybe a cool head from Ablett, he didn't retaliate giving his team a numerical advantage for the remainder of the game which in the end mattered for nothing.
Good on Wardle for going for it though. As Anderson has said it will make a man of him and he'll learn from the experience and hopefully become a better player for it. It was a good game and a credit to RL and fingers crossed we can continue to build on the fantastic start we've had to the season.

| Or it demonstrated that you can punch a Leeds player in the head 5 times and he won't react because they are a bunch of wusses. I know there is a consensus of opinion that Ablett was in some way "clever" for getting Wardle sent off but if you stand there and let yourself get punched all you are doing is throwing any momentum you might have away and giving a lift to your opponents. Had Ablett battered Wardle then it would have lifted Leeds and dropped our spirits.
I'm not advocating players starting fights to swing the momentum of games like you see in the NHL but really Ablett should've walked away if he wasn't going to get involved because winding Wardle up and then letting him punch him was the dumbest thing I've seen even if Wardle did get sent off.
