If you are bringing a player in to strengthen the squad they need to be in now so they are ready to step in. Particularly with a half who would need time to settle in and get up to speed with the plays etc.
Having Gaskell now gives us real options in the halves and at hooker.
If Robbo or Brough gets injured who do we have who can step in . Grix does not want to play there ( not in defence anyway). Leroy is not really a half, who is there ?.
I genuinely think that this season may be a real chance for silverware and possibly the last before the other teams start rebuilding.
Wigan are young an inexperienced and a little light in the forwards particularly with injuries.
Leeds are an ageing team who still have some weaknesses.
Saints have terrible injury problems
Hull have problems in the halves.
( we have already beaten the teams above).
Wire are not the same without Briers.
Salford have not bought SBW yet
With a bit of luck and an extra addition such as Gaskell we have a real; chance of a final or silverware.
Having Gaskell means that Robbo could do some time at Hooker to rest Lunt. It gives us another option at SO with Brough moving to SH or having a rest. It allows to make some changes so players are available fresh at the end of the year.
For me Gaskell could be the last piece of the jigsaw and or the last throw of the dice to get us a trophy this year before we start having to sell players.
