| Seems like cas fans aren't too bothered he's gone, although wish him the best. They seem to think he's a player who can't pass, tackle or make decisions, but will put his head down and drive at the line. Hope he's just going to be a squad player.

| But seems strange to sign 'just a squad player' at this stage of the season!
Seems strange to me, considering our 'up-and-coming youngsters'.

If we don't know then we don't know and speculating will not create a single fact. As fans we do not have a god given right to certain types of information.
There are many reasons why a player may not be selected and it would be the height of idiocy for a club to explain why. This may be for tactical reasons or matters of a more confidential nature.
e.g.
X is not playing because he is going through an unpleasant divorce
Y is not playing because of an internal disciplinary issue
Z is not playing because he needs to rest an injury to get through the season
etc
In the absence of information it is amazing how many fans have to fill the gap with negative gossip or speculation. (not refering to you here)This says plenty about the person doing the speculating and nothing about the absent player.

I think Ferres could be a starting 13 for us. A ball playing loose forward. He could do a very good job.
Which up and coming youngster do you think could do that job for us in 2013/14? Can't see Johnson, Aspinall, Blagborough, King etc doing that, can you? Is there someone else?

Agree totally. ATEOTD I doubt we decided to sign Ferres at 1:55 pm on deadline day. The deal must have been brewing probably since Anderson took over, maybe before, so the club must have been aware he could be coming. As you said Lawrence was probably there in case we didn't sign Ferres but we did so he was replaced.

We already have one- fairbank.
As for ferres being a ball playing LF- cas fans seem to think he's a crap decision maker and can't pass- sounds like we've swapped like for like

| Molloy, Cording, Fairbank etc....surely they deserve to stake a claim for a regular spot , IIRC none of them have ever let us donw when called upon.

| I agree Daz- the thing is lads like that are offered contracts to keep the numbers of home grown players at the level required by the rfl- they often are never expected to figure in the first team. Ie peltier.

| Not the best , cant understand Hudds interest. Strange. Hes a bit lazy, slow and spent loads of time injured. Not what i would call a club on the up player.

We will have to differ on Bobby F as a ball playing 13.
A 13 playing as a third prop, yes. I have never considered him to have the skill set for a ball playing loose forward.
I prefer to use my own judgement on players rather than rely on a few malcontent Cas posters. we differ here also.

| think ferres needs a move like this to be fair, hes never really realised his potential so far, seen him have good games against us but also seen him on sky look woeful in defence, perhaps a new challenge with us could re focus him, still young enough for a forward at 26 to move up a gear and he is a decent size which we have sorely lacked recently, all in all to me a reasonable signing but has work to do, lets hope baloo and purtill take him to the next level.

| 'Ballplaying LF'?
Cas have hm listed on tehir official site as a three-quarter/2nd row. How many people on here have suggested that we are over-stocked on 2nd rowers/three quarters?
I was suggesting that the likes of Fairbanks, Molloy, & Cording be given a chance as opposed to an older, similar-positioned player who has not set the world alight.

Yep a ball playing 13. Big enough to play a physical game down the middle yet able to throw a decent pass in a linking role.
I could not care less where cas list him on their website.
Ferres is vastly superior to Molloy and cording (both capable players) and plays a very different role to Fairbanks.
